After our last two performances, 0-4 vs Urawa and 0-2 vs Glory not hopeful of a good result. You never know with us though this season, wouldn't be surprised if we draw or win.

Nico, Baccus, Clisby all rested for Perth game.

Could we see Baccus Jnr at RB since Neville played a full game?

errrr yeah....not hopeful..this could be anything from a 5 - 0 smashing to an heroic style 0 - 0 or dare I say 0 - 1, but then this is nowhere near the side that went overseas during the ACL we won..

I think we are in lots of trouble  :help:

Other than their front 4, they are mediocre Chinese players. Win the midfield, win the game. Starve Oscar of the ball and he can't feed Lu Wei, Elkeson and Hulk.

We got dis.

For some reason people think SIPG are powerhouses of Chinese football. Looking through their records, they are far from it. Only been in the CSL a handful of years.

Shanghai SIPG Is set to be Next Guangzhou Evergrande, old Generation Chinese National players tends to go to GE while the younger Generarion prefers SIPG more than GE, look at Chinese National team squads most of GE players are 30+ that had past their prime, while SIPG players are between 23 to 28.

In term of forigner players, I'd rank Ahmedov-Oscar-Elkeson-Hulk front line Over Paulinho-Goulart-Alan

Have you seen our attack lately? LOL

They don't need to be a powerhouse to beat us. We lost to CCM. We got thumped by Uruwa and our game against Perth was NPL level.

One quick counter attack or giving away a spot kick will win them the game.

Love the positive attitude but lets be real here, it will be an up hill battle.

You're forgetting the rock at CDM that is Odil Ahmedov. He would stroll into any aleague side.

Unfortunately I can't see us challenging them. We've struggled to create chances on goal in the last two games. Elkeson and Hulk along with Oscar feeding them... thats just scary against our defence.

I hope we get something out of it

Love the optimism sadly can't share it

Coached by Andre Villas-Boas I wouldn't underestimate them especially after their result last week

If Borda plays I have no hope unless he decides to play for a contract in China and has a blinder

Wow. No Cornflakes up against these guys. Hope Aspro plays. Popa is asking for trouble if Borda and Hamill play.

It's gonna be like when Debbie done Dallas and we're the Debbie.

Just can only hope the other mob don't turn up thinking it's a easy win and screw them like make rude guys.

The host broadcaster of the ACL in China has had their ties with the AFC severed and it may impact the broadcast of #SHAvWSW tomorrow night...

Popa has been told to forget the ACL & concentrate on the AL.

He is apparently in two minds, as he wants to maintain his reputation in Asia & ensure clubs in that region, remain interested in his services.

Feel a bit like this ship has sailed. Should have taken his opportunities last time someone came calling perhaps?

EP of Fox Sports says there shouldn't be any impact.

There was a very low possibility of the game going 'un-broadcasted'. However that would have broken many contractual agreements

It's this sort of indecision that costs any organisation. You need a clear direction, and everything focused on it.

FWIW, I agree with Popa. We're not going to win the league or come top 2, so why would you forget the ACL to focus on A-league when that might mean the difference between 6th and 5th, possibly top 4? Of course we need to make the finals, but after that we're still going to need to win 3 games in a row to win the GF. The only difference might be whether the first game is home or away.

The only goals now should be a) make the finals, b) qualify from the ACL group, and c) see if we can do some damage in the finals. Forgetting the ACL to focus on the A-league now is silly.

EDIT: By the way, if there's people in the club that think Popa is only making decisions to score himself a deal in Asia, that's the sort of poison that erodes a club.

Btron, I think a) and b) above are mutually exclusive. To make the next stage of the ACL, only the best side in every game will do (and even then I don't think we are a hope). That would leave the z-graders like Borda in the A-league, and result in Newcastle and/or CCM and Nix overtaking us. I would prefer us to target the top 6 simply because it is the most realistic. To me if we target the ACL, we will miss both. Same if we attempt some sort of half-assed rotated compromise in both (see last week).

I'm optimistic that playing with our best 11 we can at least compete in ACL (and not be embarrassed). Unfortunately, the squad selections for A-league games don't allow our best 11 to play ACL.

ACL is the only competition we actually had something to play for IMO, as unlikely as it is to progress.

Sydney were totally crap last year and they got out of their group and were a few mins from going thru next round too. We should still be trying to stay alive in ACL

For mine we should have put first choice out for home game, then sent a changed side to China to park the bus for a draw

The last acl team selection was a farce

Especially as we are playing Adelaide who have one day less to recover.

Our management is ******* losing the plot. Lets not forget that they picked up the club at mates rates.. have taken it further away from original charter of fans first since that day.
