Still undefeated against Southern Hemisphere clubs this pre-season  

So we scraped through against a bunch of amateurs, I'm really impressed.

Holding judgement until Round 3-4, pre season games mean **** all. We struggled to break down a poor Wellington. Still not convinced we're the REAL deal. 

Riera scoring consistently is a promising sign I must admit.

Maybe a little harsh... We have very little idea what the game looked like other than the 2 goals. Nor do we have any idea what the game looked like versus what Popa was trying to achieve. 

We've shipped very few goals, even against amateur opponents as you say. But we've played most of the preseason without our starting wingers (assuming thats Bridge and Judo). Lets reserve our despondency for rd5 when we still aren't scoring, which imo wont be the case

Agreed.

Moreton Bay were thr losing grand finalists in the Queensland NPL.

Obviously Popa is working on the best combinations as well as trying to get the squad match fit. The twitter feed even had Hall making saves. 

Reading the match report, it seems like it was one-way traffic, with several genuine chances either missed or stopped by their goalie.

This is our first real pre-season, so by the time we hit the A-League rounds our finishing should be better tuned (and we all know how bad THAT was last season).

Match Report states Nick Krousatis with assist. 

Looks like Mack may have to reopen the Squad Development thread as we may have a mature rookie outside the cap signed. Moreton Bay has ex-glory GK Jordan Thurtell in their squad

Match Report

A first half strike from Oriol Riera and a Brendon Santalab wonder-goal in the second half clinched the win, which follows Tuesday’s 3-1 win over fellow NPL QLD outfit Brisbane City.

The Wanderers had the first chance of the match when Jumpei Kusukami found Roly Bonevacia with a cutback but the latter couldn’t keep his shot down.

Jumpei had a chance to break the deadlock himself with a quick snap shot from inside the box but he was denied by a smart save from the Moreton Bay keeper.

Josh Risdon should’ve perhaps found the net when he cut inside from the right but his left-footed strike was palmed away superbly by the keeper.

The Wanderers would open the scoring in the 29th minute when Riera collected the ball on the edge of the box before curling a left-footed effort inside the far post.

Following the restart, birthday boy Santalab had an early opportunity to get his name on the scoresheet but he flashed his effort wide of the mark.

Though the Wanderers’ greatest ever goalscorer would add a second soon after in quite remarkable fashion as he met a cross from trialist Nick Krousoratis with a spectacular bicycle kick.

John Hall produced a fine save late in the second half to keep Moreton Bay scoreless as the Wanderers comfortably rode out the result.

The Red & Black will now look ahead to their Westfield FFA Cup Quarter Final against Blacktown City on Wednesday 20 September at Lilys Football Centre, before kicking off their Hyundai A-League season against Perth Glory on Sunday 8 October at Spotless Stadium.

Isn't that what they said with Pio? One week sick, next the treatment  

Cejudo had a bad virus leading into our FFA game with Bentleigh Greens & didn't train for a number of days prior to the squad leaving for Melbourne. 

Whilst he's been in camp on the Sunshine Coast this week, he may have been restricted to light work. 

No rush, the AL doesn't start for another month.
