Hopefully Risdon will be back ,

What about Hamill  , last year a complete DUD , this year I have been impressed no clangers like last year :good:

He's approaching Golec tier quality.

If he drops in a few early tasty balls that are converted to goals then I'm fine with that. Nutmeging the keeper would be a bonus

We are up against the Nix who beat Perth 5-2, with occasional help from the VAR, without Durante and McGlinchy. These 2 are also missing this week as they trek back from Peru.

The defence needs to stop Finkler, described somewhere as the slowest forward in the A-League plus Risdon (assuming he plays) needs to put Dario in his pocket for the whole game. I imagine Raul will be very busy with Krishna so maybe attacks down the right instead of the left. Hoping Herd returns this week.

At least we started with a win over Perth in the opening round.

I'd be surprised if Risdon wasn't available. Hasn't played since Saturday, has been in Sydney since Sunday and didn't play at all last night.

He'll be fine physically, just depends if Josep has concerns around him not training with the squad for a while.

Riso in our squad with Herd and Clisby named. Melling named as well!

Aspro and Baccus Jnr left out.

Referee Shaun Evans 😀

It is what it is I suppose.

If we're good enough, the referee doesn't come into play and affect the result. Well, I'm hoping, anyway.

We have a good record with Evans.

Light years ahead of our records under Gillett or Green.

Fair enough.

I just think it's a shame that the referee's even come into the discussion when talking about games.

I'm more worried that WP scored 5 goals last week and are on a high.

Me too.

But they look decimated at the back.

THE Wanderers’ match against Wellington Phoenix on Saturday afternoon has been postponed, with the pitch at Spotless Stadium deemed a risk to the player’s welfare.

Western Sydney haven’t played at home for the last four weeks while the grass at the stadium was being re-turfed and it was hoped the pitch would be sufficiently covered in time for Saturday’s match.

But after a late inspection on Thursday, Western Sydney decided they had no option but to call off the game, particularly with a forecast of rain expected to further affect the condition of the surface.

The club are believed to have explored the possibility of moving the game to another venue, but such a late change would have been a logistical nightmare.

The re-turfing of the ground was expected, with Spotless Stadium gearing up for a busy summer. The venue also hosts the Sydney Thunder’s Big Bash matches.

On the upside ( if there is one ) Gombau gets more time with the squad, any injury niggles the players have ( Cejudo ? ) have more time to heal.
