Sydney FC NPL vs Wanderers NPL 17/9/2016 2:00PM
Taurus Posted September 14, 2016 IN Morgan upbeat despite missing players for Final Western Sydney Wanderers PlayStation4 NPL 2 NSW Men's coach Trevor Morgan has done wonderers at getting the most out his squad this season. Morgan’s Wanderers team will go into Saturday’s PlayStation 4 NPL 2 NSW Men’s Grand Final without 10 regular starters with six being called up to the Young Socceroos and another four summoned by the Wanderers Hyundai A-League side for their tour of Japan. It is a challenge the talented coach has happily taken on. “As a youth coach it makes me incredibly happy to see my players get the opportunities they have been working for,†he said. “While of course as a coach you want to win matches, my job is to help these boys complete the pathway and move on to the next level of the game. “To have six players in the Young Socceroos squad goes to show we are helping these boys improve. No other team had that many players picked.†Morgan said the opportunity for his youth players to participate in elite competition all year round was an opportunity the Western Sydney Wanderers couldn't refuse. “We found the transition from National Youth League to PS4 NPL 2 challenging but that was always to be expected,†he said. “it is a huge win for us that the Wanderers can be a part of the PS4 NPL 2 competition. “The matches have provided experience and learning situations for our young players that previously they wouldn't have had the opportunity to enjoy. “The boys are better players now than what they were at the start of the year.†The Wanderers finished the PlayStation4 NPL 2 season in second position behind grand final opponents Sydney FC by only a narrow margin. Morgan said there was no disappointment among the team despite missing out on the Premiership and promotion. “The focus all year has been to promote young talent and I feel like we have achieved that goal,†he said. “We went with a younger squad for this reason. If the aim was promotion, we would've brought in a few older more experienced players who could've helped us achieve that.†Morgan said the rivalry between Sydney FC and the Wanderers would not be a factor in the Grand Final and it was just another match to win for his players. “Saturday’s Grand Final another opportunity for our players to participate in a game that matters,†he said. ‘We have taken a few bits and pieces away from our previous matches with Sydney FC but our primary focus is our football and how we play. “These matches for me as a coach is all about watching how the players react and perform in pressure situations. “I have all the confidence in the world in my players and I know they will give nothing short of their best on Saturday.†1st Grade - Sydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers Saturday 2pm Leichhardt Oval, Leichhardt U20 kick off at 11:30am U18 kick off at 9am Purchase Sydney FC tickets Purchase Western Sydney Wanderers tickets (for member presale use the code provided in your email) Kuku ready for Grand Final challenge It has been an incredible rise up the ranks for Western Sydney Wanderers defender Abdelrahman Kuku. Only three years ago Kuku was playing non-league park football and had no idea his football dreams were only about to begin. The Egyptian born defender signed his first semi-professional contract only 12 months later with Mounties Wanderers before being picked up by Bankstown City. Dreams turned to reality this season when the 18-year-old signed on with the Wanderers, and he will now guide their youthful side into a Grand Final against rivals Sydney FC. “I have to pinch myself sometimes,†Kuku said. “While I work very hard and give football my everything, I still get excited by the opportunity I have been given. “Saturday’s Grand Ginal will be an incredible experience and I know we have what it takes to win.†Although they missed out on winning the PlayStation 4 NPL 2 NSW Men’s Premiership by a narrow margin, The Wanderer’s put together an incredible season despite a huge turnover of players. Kuku said it provided younger squad members like himself the opportunity to prove their worth at senior level. “Everyone who has been given a chance has not let it go to waste and it has helped the team find success this season. “I have been lucky to play the majority of the season and I feel like I have improved as a player as the weeks progressed.†Kuku will have the duty of marking Sydney FC’s Golden Boot winning striker Charles Lokolingoy but the young defender is excited by the chance at proving his abilities against the competition’s best. “My focus is primarily on my game and how I can help my teammates. I don’t tend to watch my opponents play too much,†he said. “I know Charles has had an incredible season scoring 25 goals but I’m not worried about playing against him. “He (Lokolingoy) has had a lot of luck getting in behind players so as long as we limit the service to him from the midfield he shouldn't have much impact on the match. The centre back is hopeful he and his teammates will be able to hoist the PlayStation4 NPL2 NSW trophy on Saturday. “Sydney FC pipped us in the regular season but in our matches against them we have always played really well,†Kuku said. “We can perform in the big occasions and that will help us get the result we need.†“All the boys are really excited for the match. Its going to be a great experience no matter the result.†Bones, StringerBellend, Alexander and 1 other 4 Link to comment

mack Posted September 17, 2016 1-3 :/ Scored first, then defence & midfield went to sleep. Keeper palming a shot straight at the feet of a SFC player for the 2nd, and one guy waltzed through 5 missed tackles to score their 3rd. Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment
