Taurus Posted April 29, 2016 Club have not provided a preview for this game (2nd week in a row), so all we have to go by, is this limited offering from FootballNSW. Western Sydney Wanderers v Central Coast Mariners Saturday 1pm Valentine Sports Park No 2, Glenwood The busy weekend at Valentine kicks off on early Saturday afternoon as the Western Sydney Wanderers, sensibly avoiding a clash with the A-League Grand Final, moved this fixture from the original Sunday date. They will hope to get the weekend off to a great start for the club as a whole, and three points against Central Coast Mariners would help them keep the pressure on Sydney FC at the top. Currently second, ahead of Bankstown City on goal difference, a victory is needed to make sure the Sky Blues don’t skip away to too great a lead. The Mariners have been somewhat inconsistent recently and they won’t have been impressed with scoring four goals last weekend and still finishing with a loss. Eleven goals against in the past month shows that a tightening up of the backline will need to be given some priority. Alexander and Prydzopolis 2 Link to comment

Taurus Posted April 30, 2016 U18's 6 - 0 win U20's 3 -0 Win NPL2 3 - 2 Win after going down 2 nil in 1st half. Could have been 6 or more, but THB keep CC in the contest with some great saves. Prydzopolis and Edinburgh 2 Link to comment
Alexander Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) Was impressive how many chances the boys created. Especially considering CCM's defence was playing with a back 6 at times Edited April 30, 2016 by Alexander Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment
Prydzopolis Posted April 30, 2016 Sounds like a lucky escape, did they boys play well? Was it a case of not being clinical or a good goal keeper? At this present point in time I feel Easts NPL are way ahead of us at the moment, will be hard to close that gap with close games like these! Link to comment
Taurus Posted April 30, 2016 Kyle Cimenti got 1st & 3rd goals & I think Lachlan Scott got the 2nd, but not certain. Buhagiar got the 1st for CCM & Baccus scored an own goal. Prydzopolis and Alexander 2 Link to comment
Alexander Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) Sounds like a lucky escape, did they boys play well? Was it a case of not being clinical or a good goal keeper? At this present point in time I feel Easts NPL are way ahead of us at the moment, will be hard to close that gap with close games like these! We were sloppy in possession in the first half, which worked perfectly for CCM. They had a striker with serious pace, & he used it to score their first. CCM's second goal came from a decent free kick across the goals and one of our boys deflected it in for an own goal. The 2nd half was much better. We completely bossed it, but CCM were playing very, very deep when we had the ball in their half. It looked as though CCM's plan was to play super deep & try to score with their speedster on a lightning transition ala Leiceister this season. Eventually something had to give and we got the equaliser. From then on it was only going to be one result. I wouldn't be too worried Prydz. The score flattered CCM & they were very hard to breakdown. ESFC scraped a 3-2 win tonight against Fraser Park. A team we beat comfortably last week Edited April 30, 2016 by Alexander Edinburgh and Prydzopolis 2 Link to comment

Prydzopolis Posted April 30, 2016 I like my match reports a bit more detailed, I'm not asking for a complete tactical analysis plus interview but something a bit more substantial than your offering. I did appreciate it, but preferred Alexander's expanded version Alexander 1 Link to comment

Taurus Posted May 7, 2016 May as well post this in here. ACADEMY WRAP: Mariners vs. Wanderers image: http://www.ccmariner...pg?t=1865865668 1/1 Trent Buhagiar was on the scoresheet against the Western Sydney Wanderers Monday, 2 May 2016 - Kane Runge, @kanerunge1 The Central Coast Mariners Academy went down fighting to the Wanderers Academy in a five-goal thriller at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday. Western Sydney Wanderers Academy 3 (Cimenti x 2, Scott) Central Coast Mariners Academy 2 (Buhagiar, Baccus (OG)) It was the Mariners who made a bright start and took the lead 11 minutes in when a through ball from Reece Papadimitrios found Trent Buhagiar on the run who made no mistake finishing his one-on-one opportunity. The Mariners went close to doubling their lead immediately when winger Kade Mapu forced the mistake from Wanderers defender Jackson Bandiera, which fell to Buhagiar in behind the Wanderers back four, who then forced a good save from keeper Matthew Symes. The Mariners doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Buhagiar was fouled on the edge of the area. Papadimtrios sent his free kick in at an awkward height that resulted in an own goal by the Wanderers. The Wanderers hit back in the 38th minute when a through ball from Tariq Maia sent striker Kyle Cimenti through on goal. Tom Heward-Belle closed down the angle and forced Cimenti to send his shot onto the post, only to score on the follow up. Heward-Belle was fantastic through out and his saves kept the Mariners Academy in the contest from start to finish. The Wanderers had another good chance to level on the hour mark when a ball from Keanu Baccus found Lachlan Scott but it was Heward-Belle who smothered Scott and made a great save to keep the score at 2-1. The home side levelled proceedings in the 75th minute when the two substitutes, Scott and Devlin found their way in behind the CCMA defence when Devlin cut the ball back to the ever present Lachlan Scott who found his way past Heward-Belle from close range making the score 2-2. The home side took the lead through Kyle Cimenti in the 82nd minute from close range to send the WSW Academy ahead 3-2. Despite some promising chances in the final minutes of the game, Western Sydney Wanderers held on to be the victors in all three grades in what was a tough day for the Academy. The Central Coast Mariners Academy take on Sydney FC Academy at Pluim Park, Lisarow next Saturday. 18s kick off at 2:30, 20s at 4:30 and first grade at 6:30.
