Taurus Posted May 14, 2016 In Probably have a few sherbets at the Cedar Tavern, before wandering over to watch end of 20's. Don't forget to bring your m'ship pass to gain free entry. Wanderers take on Marconi this Sunday 1/1 NPL now takes centre stage with the conclusion of the Hyundai A-League Friday, 13 May 2016 The Western Sydney Wanderers face one of their biggest tests in the PS4 NPL2 this season when they take on Marconi Stallions this Sunday at Popondetta Park. Sitting in fourth place and undefeated since Round 4 with four wins and two draws, Marconi Stallions will feel confident as they take on the second-placed Wanderers at 7pm. While the Red & Black defeated Marconi 8-0 in pre-season, that result was skewed with a first half line-up consisting largely of Hyundai A-League players who were competing to maintain match fitness. Sunday’s match will be a much closer affair with no indication which team will have the advantage going into the game. Freshly signed to a first team contract, Lachlan Scott will be on Marconi’s radar as the man to watch as the centre forward has an impressive 12 goals in ten matches in the NPL so far. Marconi’s big signings and former Hyundai A-League players Sean Rooney and Mirjan Pavlovic are in form and they will look to add Wanderers to the impressive scalps they’ve already taken this year including Central Coast Mariners and Mounties Wanderers. Kick-off is 7pm this Sunday at Popondetta Park, Emerton. 20s are at 5pm with 18s at 3pm. Alexander and Prydzopolis 2 Link to comment

Prydzopolis Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Got here at the half time break to find the 20's down 0-1. We managed to pull one back after some good play to bring it to 1-1 but conceded straight from a dead ball/free kick not that much later. Currently down 1-2. Haven't been that impressed by our boys, Marconi have sat deep & have struggled to break them down. Have created a few decent chances but yet to beat the keeper to find the leveler Edited May 15, 2016 by Prydzopolis Link to comment
Prydzopolis Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Fox playing up front?Taurus reports yes, missed two decent chances in the last 20 mins. There is less than 5 to go Final result: 1-2 Marconi win Edited May 15, 2016 by Prydzopolis Alexander 1 Link to comment

Prydzopolis Posted May 15, 2016 Macdonald injured?I'll ask Layles later... Nervy nervy opening for our boys, in the first 15 minutes we were absolutely dominated physically & pressed very high. Game has settled down a bit & we are finally playing a bit of football now Alexander 1 Link to comment
Prydzopolis Posted May 15, 2016 Game has been very even thus far, we had a good period for 5 minutes after the early Marconi pressure but since then it has been very even. Marconi tend to look to go long or get in behind our wingers pushing forward before we win the ball back & push forward. When we break, Marconi look to slow down the play before getting behind the ball, making it hard to break down. Very even game thus far, Marconi have created very little but they seemed to wreak havoc with balls into the box. We just went behind 0-1, not for the first time tonight we have struggled to play out from the back with a few streaky passes just missing intercepts. This time D'Cunya plays a square ball across the 18 yard box to nobody & the Marconi left back ran through & cracked a nice shot past the keeper. Just half time now too, 1-2 mins before half time. Bad time to concede Link to comment
Prydzopolis Posted May 15, 2016 Second has started, we have come out with a bee up our bonnet. Marconi sitting very deep when we have the ball Alexander 1 Link to comment
Alexander Posted May 15, 2016 This game sounds a lot like many of our recent matches. Getting tougher now the other teams are getting fit Link to comment

Getting tougher now the other teams are getting fitCurrently playing 8-1-1 in defense & the boys finding it hard to break them down. Sporadically breaking out when the long ball finds there lone striker on the half way but Aspro has dealt with him pretty comfortably Edited May 15, 2016 by Prydzopolis Link to comment
Prydzopolis Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Another sub, I assume it is to bring a bit of urgency into the play. At the moment we have really struggled to get someone on the ball who is willing to take on and beat a player or do something magical We just scored 1-1, Shane D'Cunya with the cross, Scott had a volley at the back post, it was saved before he had another crack but this time hit across the face of goal & some how ended up into the back of the net Marconi just stepped up the intensity, just like the start of the game, big tackles very physical but the referee letting a lot go at the moment. Marconi players really feeling it right now D'Cunya just did a back heel pirouette to beat two players and hit a curling right foot strike centimeters from goal Macdonald injured? Hasn't he been released? Nothing official by the club Edited May 15, 2016 by Prydzopolis Alexander 1 Link to comment
Prydzopolis Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Had to laugh, the parents of the u20's were going off at the referee. It was equal points of & in the fact she had absolute no idea that the referee was having a good game. Whinged about every decision. Makes me think if my rose tinted red & black glasses make me look like that when I'm watching the Wanderers 1-1 full time. I don't think we'll be promoted this season. Definite blow to our chances of promotion with the results we have had tonighthttps://twitter.com/prydzopolis/status/731775972240805888 Full credit to WST tonight, was definitely concerned when I saw the banners but pleasantly surprised by how it turned out, my summary: - Fat Ugly White chicks chant was seriously average - They appeared to sing quite a few chants they refused to join in at A League matches at the NPL game which left me scratching my head - Appears they've changed the words to some chants which may work well (as in they can sing there own version without interfering with the RBB/crowd chanting) - Appears they've got a few new chants which were okay/meh & my only hope is that they won't clash with RBB chants at matches - Apart from the above, they sung all night, looked like they were having some fun, made plenty of noise, the support was superb & lifted the team in key moments Well in Also was fantastic to finally meet Layles, great to meet you mate Edited May 15, 2016 by Prydzopolis DCWSW, JosephWSW56 and Layles 3 Link to comment

Prydzopolis Posted May 15, 2016 If we beat esfc in all derbies then we have a chance. We can't afford to drop any points against them in all honesty, for me it appears they are clearly the best team in the NPL2 championship race Link to comment
Alexander Posted May 15, 2016 Your summary like every game I've been to this season. Not surprised that we drew. It's been coming in the past few weeks. Good in WST for making some noise. Maybe wait until you go to more than 1 game before you do the 'always loyal' tweets though Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment

Alexander Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Not you Prydz. Saw a few of the WST guys post stuff on Twitter. By their wording, it seemed like a bit of banter directed towards the RBB Edited May 15, 2016 by Alexander DCWSW and Prydzopolis 2 Link to comment
Taurus Posted May 15, 2016 Macdonald injured? Hasn't he been released? Nothing official by the club Macdonald has gone to Wollongong & plans to try his luck OS. Youlley had food poisoning hence his absence. Plenty of other departures will be announced in next 2- 3 weeks. All newly contracted AL players (Aspro, Scott, Shabow, Bandiera) will play their last game in the Derby thence break for the off-season. Our current NPL2 squad will be completely different in coming weeks, with more youngsters such as Fox, Najjarine & Morfitis, given a chance to play regularly at that level. Alexander Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Cheers Taurus. Good luck to MacDonald. He's been one of the best performers in the last few weeks. Does he have any OS offers? Shame we won't get to see much more of Shabwow in the NPL2 this season. I'm a massive fan Edited May 15, 2016 by Alexander Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment

Jewwfro Posted May 15, 2016 I decided to go to the game last night. Marconi parked the bus at 1-0 up, it was pretty much a 9-1 formation in the second half. Lachlan Scott should have put a few away, first half he put the ball over the bar when 1 on 1 with the keeper and probably should have put away his header in the second half. The ref was quite bad both ways, missed a few of handballs (one which should have been a Marconi penalty), gave two yellows to us for dives that were clearly not and failed to card a couple of Marconi players after repeated offences.
