r

We have trailed/tested/played 38 players in the NPL2 senior side, I expect that number to increase. Paul forgot to add the boys that have travelled with the WSW squad too!

We have 13 players absent on international duty, which includes the 3 in Japan with the AL squad.

Not sure when the Australian Schoolboys takes place, but we had plenty (4 - 6?) selected for that also.

Anyways, I'm In

The Western Sydney Wanderers head into this Saturday’s semi-finals with a team in all three grades.
Competing in PS4 NPL2 for the first time, the U18s won the Premiership while the U20s and First Grade both finished runners-up, meaning all three had last week off to prepare for the knockout match.

ENTRY IS FREE TO WANDERERS' MEMBERS. Winners will go into next week’s Grand Final.

In First Grade, the Red & Black take on Mounties with a good record against the team from Mt Pritchard with a 4-1 win and 1-1 draw during the regular season.

In practice though, it will be a different game entirely with a number of Wanderers players away on representative duty meaning, giving this semi-final even more of a twist.

Wanderers Members receive free entry into the match on presentation of their Membership Card.

Any goalkeepers on the forum looking for some game time, should bring a pair of boots & shin pads.

Both 1st team GK's are away on international tours

maybe they could play our new W-league keeper!

Worth adding this article given the impact that selections for Young Socceroos & Joeys, will have on our squads this weekend.

With four players selected from the club, the Wanderers have double the amount of players in the squad than all other Hyundai A-League clubs combined.

It makes a total of 16 players from the Wanderers who have been selected for national duty in the past two weeks following six players travelling to Vietnam with the Young Socceroos and another six being called up to the Australian Schoolboys.

Wanderers Academy Technical Directory Ian Crook said the club was please for the players.

“The boys performances have been the tell-tale factor, they’ve performed well this year so I’m delighted for themâ€, said Crook.

“It all comes down to the fact performance outweighs potential. We said that to the players from the beginning and they’ve all performed well enough to put themselves in the national teams.

“Thanks needs to go to the coaches that have worked with these boys, not just this year but in previous years as well. There are a lot of people who can say they’ve played a part in the boys going to where they are now.â€

Is the age limit for A-League clubs competing in NPL competitions?

I seem to remember that Michael Beauchamp played against us for Bankstown City

The age limit is a condition of the AL clubs being permitted to enter teams into the NPL competitions.

So that AL club teams don't dominate the competition, all players must be u20 except 3, who can be up to 23, but can't have played in 10 AL games in the prior season.

Even Sotirio played 10+ games last year, so he was ineligible for NPL games.

Super impressive !!! Considering we have none of the "senior squad" who started the season and played right through the first round - that is an amazing achievement

As the first team lost troops, they called in 20s players, who called in 18s players who in turn called on 15s and 16s players. We had a 15 year old start in the first team tonight

We have more under 20 year olds in our Aleague squad than sny club, more players in the young Socceroos than any other club and more kids in the joeys than any other club...

Congrats to Ian Crook and the whole youth coaching staff (and to popa for appointing crook)

The future is very bright

Huge effort today to win all 3 grades despite having 10 players on International duty, 3 others in Japan with the AL squad & 3 more with long term injuries.

The latest injury was to Kyle Cimenti who badly injured his ankle at training last Saturday, the day prior to flying out to Japan with the AL squad.
