Anyone know might be the team.

The Youth team players that are listed in A-league squad are

Suman, Keanu Baccus, Majok, Majok, Scott, Tokich.

Tokich on his way back with the other 7 academy lads, so unlikely to start.

So will it be these guys with the NPL guys.

If you take our young players in the first team squad + those called up for the U19 Australian squad we get:

  1. Nick Suman
  2. Mathieu Cordier
  3. Kosta Grozos
  4. Fabian Monge
  5. Tass Mourdoukoutas
  6. Moudi Najjar
  7. Tate Russell
  8. Noah Pagden
  9. Marc Tokich
  10. Keanu Baccus
  11. Abraham Majok
  12. Lachlan Scott
  13. Sam Silvera was in a WSW website article about him a couple weeks ago so he'd be part of the squad I imagine.

Those are pretty much the confirmed names I could find.

As it's only an 8 game regular season you don't need a huge squad, maybe 16 to 18 players.

To fill the squad you'd want the best of the NPL squads, so I'd add Thomas Aquilina who was the U18 player of the year, Abdelrahman Kuku, Daniel Axford as our 2nd keeper, Jordan Hall who was part of our squad to play against Melbourne City in a pre-season friendly, Oliver Puflett who has been called up for Australian squads.

That's 18, I would expect any remaining spots to be taken by any NPL2 players we haven't released. Abou Serhal, Emmanuel Gonzalez, Tariq Maia, Kyle Cimenti, Matthew Lecce, Lachlan Campbell, Mackenzie Simon, Josh Bartolotto, Cameron Devlin etc.

Still with the patient play but with at least 6 shots on goal to half time. 2-0 our way with goals to Adan and Pufflett both with assists from Majok.

Tate Russell looking good at right back as is Jordan Hall at CB.

Boys look fit.

Gombau here.

3-0 now. Looks like Canberra will be on the end of a drubbing.

Literally just as I typed that, Puflett won a penalty then scored it.

Overhead some comments that said the Canberra team have only been training for 4 weeks.

They were up against multiple young Socceroos.

The other issue? What is the carrot for attracting these players to this team?

No AIS, the NYL license was a token gesture so the team was always going to be under strength.

It's for local players. The club won't be trying to 'attract' anyone.

On the money. Here's their NYL squad

Canberra United name squad ahead of first NYL season
Canberra United has named its squad for their first National Youth League campaign with the roster made up almost entirely of home grown talent.

Co-coaches Ryan Grogan and Marcial Munoz have picked an 18-man squad which included two players from the axed FFA Centre of Excellence program.

Grogan said the side is full of exciting local talent made up of young players who cracked the first-team at their clubs in the National Premier League Capital Football this season.

United side kick off their season away against the Western Sydney Wanderers and will play in a conference with the Wanders, Sydney FC, Newcastle Jets and Central Coast Mariners.

The two-conference format wraps up its regular season on January 27, before the winners of each division square off in a final the following week.

"I am very happy with the players that we have and believe that with the abundance of talent we will be more than competitive in the upcoming season," Grogan said.

National Youth League squad: Sam Brown (Canberra FC), Finn Jurak (Belconnen United), James Fletcher, (FFA), Jack Green (Gungahlin United), Ben Obst (FFA), Ross Costanzo (Canberra FC) Nick Dahl (Belconnen United), Daniel Subasic (Canberra FC), Antoni Timotheou (Gungahlin United), Lachlan Griffiths (Canberra United Academy), Tom Milicevic (Canberra FC), Roko Strika (Canberra Olympic), Mate Barasic (Canberra United Academy), Daniel Fabrizio (Belconnen United), Sam Whithear (Belconnen United), Tom Krklec (Gungahlin United), Josh Gulevski (Canberra Olympic), Mikey Katsoulis (Canberra United Academy).
