  • Dari-goal Vidosic Punishes Perth

    mack

Dario Vidosic has scored in his starting debut to give the Wanderers a dominant 1-0 victory against Perth Glory.

Threatened with postponement via a typical Wanderers home game storm, Western Sydney came out firing against Perth and totally dominated the play. As the referees discussed taking the players off should the lightning strike at Parramatta Stadium, Dario Vidosic ensured that any abandonment of the game at half-time would see the Wanderers take all three points.

Scott Jamieson launched a 44th minute corner in the penalty area, Perth failed to clear, Marc Warren's snap attempt at a clearance fell to Federico Piovaccari. The marquee striker smartly squared the ball to Vidosic, his first and second touches took him past Richard Garcia, and his third fired the ball across ex-Wanderer Ante Covic.

The second half continued much in the same vein, with the Wanderers eventually producing a decisive 60-40% possession tally, long with 359 passes at 83% accuracy, the new Spanish 'tiki taka' influence finally resulting in a match where all three points stayed with the Red & Black.

We played very well in the first half but took time to get going after half time.  Losing our excellent CB Alberto made us very shaky at the back but we held out.  It still concerns me that we give away unnecessary fouls just outside the box late.  This time it didn't cost us.

We will win more than we lose playing like this, dominated from the start to the finish. Redders still makes me as nervous as F u c k though... Newcastle next week will be a cracker, bring it on.

Great to meet Balkanite finally and got my scarf far ken, thanks brother. Will be hard to sleep tonight, on so much of a massive high, the win was great but more so the domination in every aspect of the game....  :woah:  :woah:  :woah:

Was great to see Sir Ante with the golden palm and his sidekick Tyson finally getting the send off hey deserved.

On another note great to see Golec play his finest game for our club to date..  :golecapproves:

Thank ****, team dominated, Piovacrappy licked balls again he looks so disinterested, Santa power!

    Disinterested? Give it a rest

Hands on hips ain't a good look when you've done ***** all. Tell me Matty what did he do?
He did that a couple of times after he got smashed by the Perth defenders Thwaites and Djulbic who are big units and that muppet of a referee wouldn't give any free kicks to Fed. He made a few mistakes, but who hasn't? I thought he fought hard when he needed to and played a part in our win tonight.

I still don't see Sotirio outgrowing the A-League but I'll give him some credit for the shift he put in tonight. He was reasonably effective closing down opponents, made some good runs and displayed better decision making. Unfortunately, he still lacks composure and the pedigree to deliver a telling ball. I feel he could be more effective if he learnt to play for corners and throw ins.

Dimas looked a lively box to box type midfielder. There were 3 instances where he turned the ball over very cheaply. By contrast, Andreu is a lot more consistent, both within the 90 minutes and from week to week. His off the ball movement is less impressive than Dimas, though they compliment each other perfectly well.

Alberto won 10/10 defensive duals v SFC last week. Tonight he showed that composure and quality again. Aspro deserves to be further up the pecking order than Hamill - based on form and potential.

Piovaccari showed some better moments tonight. There were a couple moments where he demanded a better ball and would have likely scored. I might be unpopular for saying this - Santalab offered (and based on current form - can offer) just as much.

Vidosic has an almost flawless game in the first half. He seems to be more comfortable on the right side. We might see Castelen on the left when he gets back from injury. I don't think it will impact Romeo's effectiveness too much as he is not the kind of winger that relies on running to the byline and getting a cross in.

Neville showed some positive signs going forward though picked up another foolish yellow. 4/4.
