Yes, he should do better with the cattle he has, but he didn't pick them to begin with. That’s a pretty slight change, in my position. Shifting from top 6 to top 6 and not getting embarrassingly humped in the semi. as for mind made up it honestly isn’t, I’d love for him to win 3 out of next 4 finsh 4th get a home semi, then who knows what would happen next. With cattle (and time he has) I don’t think that 6th is an unreasonable bar to set. Next 2 weeks is the mark of how far we have come, has he got us organised to the point of competing with the two Melbourne’s? City are very beatable basically can he fashion what he was given into a competitive team? Edited March 13, 2018 by StringerBellend Carns 1 Link to comment

No one forced Gombau to apply for the job. He watched that playing group several times before he was appointed. He praised the players when he was unveiled as new WSW coach. That Gombau arrived and declared sixth spot as goal for the season is unforgivable. That people talk as if squeezing into the top six is an achievement is beyond me. Newsflash: mid season managerial changes will be banned as of next year world wide. The manager's union decided that managers can only be expected to work and perform with a squad of their choice. Didn't win a trophy with all the riches of City (no salary cap and minimal visa restrictions too, plus a full pre season). Funny what happened when he brought his preferred players in. And no, I don't intend to compare Gombau with Guardiola ever again. I've stated before that I don't know whether Gumby will achieve anything (and he wasn't my first choice either). But I do know that Popa wanted to go, and we were ready for a change. It was getting stale. Whether Gumby is the messiah or not (and it is bloody big shoes to fill), I never expected anything this season. Popa leaving was the end of the season in my eyes (as far as winning any silverware). I still get the shits when Gumby doesn't give a **** about structure or defending, but Popa gave me the shits with plenty of his tactics/signings/squad selections too. thefairy, Valter43, wendybr and 2 others 5 Link to comment
Zelinsky
There are plenty of managers who can come in mid season and make a squad perform by playing football to it's strengths instead of exposing its weaknesses for months. I prefer Jupp to Pep. Link to comment

StringerBellend
With all falling support etc the Club can’t have another bad season next year. So the question comes who is the best chance of bringing success next year? If gumby salvages this one, which I sincerely hope he does, by winning 3 of next 4 and scaring the **** of some teams in the finals, then I would say that he is the guy. If he can’t take the 2nd most expensive side, which contains one of the best strikers in the league and three decent foreign players, plus current Socceroo to top 6th in let’s face it a dreadful league then he isn’t the guy. If he scrapes the top 6, then by mine he probably isn’t the guy, but I’d assume the club would have a lot more visibility of what he’s doing and what is plans are for next year... and would make a choice. As I say the hopeless optimist sees this as all academic. we are going to win the next 4, get a home semi against city, snot them all over the park to set up a semi with Smurfs which we win 1-0 thanks to a late goal that goes on off Bridges arse setting up grand final with the Jets which win and a large bronze statue of Gumby is erected outside the new parramatta stadium near the entrance to the Mark Bridge stand. Pretty much this. For a little bit (the derby) I started to warm to him, but let’s face it he’s just not Everton. the football is so bad at the moment I can’t bring myself to keep watching it I’d have loved Bobby Brown Shoes to work out but unfortunately he couldn’t organise a defence, a real shame as he seemed like such a decent bloke and he had a great line in tasteful suits. Moyes’s time was up and had run it’s course. .. and yes we shall take this to another thread Edited March 13, 2018 by StringerBellend Carns and Prydzopolis 2 Link to comment

DamnedUnited
Why have all threads relating to police /security/banning Active support been locked. The broader media even is giving column space to this but our own forum stops despite overwhelming interest and debate on the issue. This game will not be remembered for a mediocre team beating an even more mediocre team. Valter43, wendybr and Erdz 3 Link to comment
