toonarmy
Cornthwaite must come in and Neville must come in. Aspro looked better with cornthwaite as he was previously carrying borda and hammil is a passenger. Despite him not having played much, that's no excuse in having to waste a substitution at the 70th minute mark when half the time he is sitting back and not making the forward runs he should be making Next weeks back 4 Neville cornthwaite Aspro clisby braad and wendybr 2 Link to comment

Cornthwaite could also end up as an option for captaincy. There was a lot more defensive cohesion last night with more direction from Vedran and Cornthwaite taking a leading role. Aspro stepped up his game accordingly. Borda may have improved slightly in previous weeks but by no stretch of the imagination is he a 'backline leader'. wendybr, DCWSW, TehSmileyBandit and 2 others 5 Link to comment

I wonder how much the communication levels has played in the guys performing this season. From the outside it seemed like our backline lacked communication with Redmayne, and it seemed to improve a bit with Tyson. Now with a guy who is very vocal (Vedran) and a senior CB who has found his feet/voice, I think it will (as you said Martin) help lift our back four into a cohesive and stable unit. Fingers crossed wendybr 1 Link to comment
marron
Cornthwaite apparently the one to pull the boys over to the supporters post match. Gone up 5 points on the marron appreciation scale. Cornthwaite in. DontCallMeJacko, lloydy136, wendybr and 1 other 4 Link to comment

Zelinsky
Looking forward too seeing an error free 90 minute game of him next Saturday. With half the season over, the time has come for the slapstick festival at the back to be retired. We've given our opponents enough material this season to contently laugh themselves to sleep. wendybr, EmMac and StringerBellend 3 Link to comment

jackyboyc
Never was a big fan of Cornflakes when he was getting a look in for the national team. The bloke is really growing on me. If we hang onto him and he continues to perform he will end up being one of my favourites. wendybr, 102megan, theguyyouwishyouwere and 2 others 5 Link to comment

Zelinsky
He appears to be the leader we've been missing for the first half of the season. Filling the gap the departures of Bridgey, NTS, and Jamo left behind. He had a lot of catching up to do after playing in a lower Asian league for as long as he did, but it appears he managed to get on top of his game. He was impressive at the derby, that's for sure. I didn't think he'd come back, but boy am I glad he did. We seem much more settled at the back with Cornflakes, and Vedran behind him. About time, but better late than never. btron3000, Valter43, spectacular291 and 10 others 13 Link to comment

DontCallMeJacko
Cornthwaite joining in with the RBB doing Dale Cavese (iirc?) at the conclusion of the match. Right on the full-time whistle he turned to the rbb, raised both arms , and let out a HUUGGEEE "**** YEAHHHH!!!" It was at that point that I turned to one one of our mutual friends and said "remind me to **** Robbie Cornthwaite later" The bloke gets it #ShouldBeCaptain EmMac, 102megan, lloydy136 and 2 others 5 Link to comment

Wanderboy
He is slow and his long balls are absolutely atrocious - either going over the goal line or sideline. But there's just a steel-ness about him that has reinforced our defence. ESFC have scored a shite load of goals this season, but the last two times they have played us, they have failed to score. This has been in no small way due to Cornflakes at the back. #Bordaout Carns and xxBrandonxx 2 Link to comment

ManfredSchaefer
At one stage he reminded me of NTS. First off, the guy is experienced beyond the capabilities of the other three usual starting backs. Just like NTS in seasons 2-4 he has his shite wired from playing the game over and over and over again. Secondly, that experience inspires confidence and trust among his colleagues. As much as it is key to be a gifted and creative individual footballer it is also key to be a team player, especially at the back. Both NTS and Cornflakes have the leadership to do this. I would argue that Aspro particularly has benefited from Rob's work as a starting CB. Thirdly he adds height in both boxes, just as NTS did. He hasn't as yet scored for us like Topor did or as he himself has for the Socceroos, but it would not surprise me if he did. Fourthly, he has a physical presence on the pitch that is just like NTS..yes, he may be ponderous, but it's not that easy to stop him when he gets going nor is it easy to get through him. If he keeps getting starts with us I'd be more than happy. Carns, btron3000, wendybr and 1 other 4 Link to comment
Carns
Glad that he came good because he didn't look good to begin with. Took a while to settle into the pace of the A-league. Glad he's doing well as the addition of him and Vedran has led to a vastly improved defensive record recently. Only problem is pace, because Aspro isn't that quick either. Valter43 1 Link to comment
