I'd say, due to their defence taking a hit, they'll let us play with the ball and come into their defending third and look to disposes and hit the counter with the speeds they have.

They're not the play from the back type, so their mids will be very busy.

Weather forecast suggests 60% of showers in the evening. What a shame for those planning to attend the hit & giggle at the SCG

    Saturday 14 January

Summary showers.png Min 25 Max 32 Shower or two. Possible rainfall: 0 to 2 mm Chance of any rain: 60% rain_60.gif Sydney area

Cloudy. Medium (60%) chance of showers, most likely in the evening. Winds north to northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h increasing to 25 km/h before shifting south to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h during the afternoon.

Sun protection recommended from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, UV Index predicted to reach 15 [Extreme]

I hope it fooking pours down and that there are lots of glum miserable BBL fans trudging around wondering if they will see any play, please let this happen.

As much as I enjoy the BBL in small doses, I actually do want it to be rained off. Would be hilarious. Cricket Australia's cheeky swipe at football by scheduling a derby to coincide with ours being ruined by the weather.

It's not going to get rained off. They play in showers dont they? Not like test cricket where they come off for bad light if the sun goes behind a cloud or delay the start because the grass is a tad moist.  Their game will be over by half time in our match, let them hear some real atmosphere as they leave and not a KFC bucket hat in sight...

Seems to be umpires discretion. The thunder game last week was paused due to rain but on Monday night the Sixers batted in pretty solid rain for over an hour.

Even their mids are going to be short on experience. So they'll def play on the counter and use their speed. Hopefully Popa realises this and doesn't expose us at the back. If they score first, I can't see us taking anything from the game.

can you imagine the scenes if we somehow come away with the win ?

They have packed out the stadium because there so confident there going to flog us again .

I would love to see 30k+ Smurf fans have to watch us celebrate .

If they're losing, 90% of them will be gone at the 84th min. Especially if traffic is going to be immense because of the BBL

Is that what happened at ANZ people left to beat the traffic, fair enough should just get the train.

Never said they'd be bossing it, just that they'd have work to do keeping us back

    Alas though, you are correct.

They'll set up the way Perth has against us, twice.

Just 2 banks of 4. We can't break any team down so it's perfect tactics against us.

We don't have a powerful no.9 to hold the ball up in that traffic and lay it off, or turn and shoot. So we'll be passing it around side to side trying to find an opening until Jumpei loses the ball because he refuses to use his left foot.

Expect to see balls dinked over the top alot trying to catch the SFC defence off guard. But those lobs will go too far or straight into Vuka's hands.

Our best chance to score is if we get a decent ball into the box from a corner and Cornthwaite gets a head to it.

I think we shouldn't underestimate the effect of being charged $40 per active ticket to inevitably watch us lose to our biggest domestic rival. Doesn't sound attractive does it? Especially when the money is only going to help ESFC become stronger as a club. **** them.

We should raise ticket prices for ESFC fans to the next derby. Make them bleed.

    Link to comment

Add in $50+ prices to sit in Wanderers bronze then it makes it all the more unattractive. They've jacked up the prices & people are still turning up, can't see them stopping anytime soon. In fact, it just accentuates the gap between east & west or those that can afford & those that can't.

Just like Easts at the beginning, I can't see WSW raising prices until we start selling out ANZ. 60,000 at the opening derby means that there is plenty of tickets to sell.

What's the bet that we don't have a game plan at all? We'll be playing the same way we have done for the past 10 weeks even though SFC are slightly weakened. Instead they'll be the ones exposing our weaknesses.

Painfully accurate. You know your team is **** when you can sit there and literally predict exactly what happens.

Looking at the forecast I don't think there will be enough rain for it to stop. This isn't cricket, rain won't matter, especially for the #sydneysmash.

I actually like watching the thunder, it gives me something to do at night during the summer. But I'll be doing a rain dance this weekend.

I am quite ambivalent about this game.

Our team has been the least inspiring so far in almost five years. Bland. Boring almost. It is quite telling when I am meant to get excited about ex Smurfs "coming home" instead of players we accept as ours, and who connect with us.

No Jamo, NTS, Bridgey, Santa, Golec, Poljak, Alberto etc: may the next generation of true "red and black" step forward on Saturday. The team has to be burning. I want to see fire, not just professional football players.

I really hope Cornflakes shows up, rallies the troops (if they need rallying) and sets an example how to approach a derby.

the only reason i want to go to this match is the off field stuff, nothing to get excited about on field

Our poor performances so far are exactly the reason we should fire up. Show we still support the team, still outsing those chumps no matter what.

Maybe I'm weird, but I lose a bit of passion when we're expected to win and easily do (unless we crush someone which is rare). Sometimes in the past I even kind of liked it when we went behind to garbage teams. Well, I didn't like being behind, but i liked the feeling I got when we made a comeback.

Now this season has been average so I'm looking forward to this more than ever. Gonna be epic when we win.

Yep this is true. We will be offering good prices the next three years.

Our time for revenge should be at the new Parra. Give em one ******* bay and squeeze every single penny, as we will easily fill the rest ourselves at a 30k ground.

Just had similar conversation, WSW lack players who are really playing for the club. Maybe the youth might have the passion. Without Santalab you really don't have players that I would say are westies through and through.

i think Baccus and Soty play for the club they just lack the skill to make it count

Yep. Mercenaries. The few who might be able to lead are not playing, and those who are playing aren't leading.

Guys like Jamo and Andreu are very much missed.
