The fact is that this is as much of a physical and mental journey as much for him as it is for Ante. Yes I know Ante is the one pulling off all the saves but he is training with Ante day in day out, he is traveling all around with the squad being involved in all match preparations and he also went on the mental side of things having to keep emotions and nerves in check whilst being around the boys. It is as much his win, as it is a win for the boys that played major and minor parts in this ACL triumph.

For a second there I thought we were talking about someone else completely but no I was just imagining things!

Before the first leg of the Final he was doing some pretty sweet half-volleys during goalkeeper practice. Beautiful stuff.

I noticed at half-time that his touch was better than the outfield players he was kicking the ball around with,

Admittedly one of them was Kwabs.

he deserves a medal as much as any other player or staff in the squad. maybe more - after all, ante was the player of the tournament - and deano was pushing for ante's position, forcing him to be on his best.

deano is an Asian champion - whether he played a game or not.

If I was Bouzanis and I joined the team 5 minutes ago, I'm not sure I'd be front and centre of every celebration.

Bouzanis is Blocking Big Head Bridge and Saint Ante.

Even Shannon Cole is trying to pull him away.

I think Shannon might be losing his balance, and using Dean's shirt to steady himself, more than "trying to pull him away".

But I do agree that "if it were me" I'd probably let others take more of the spotlight.

But it's not me (stupid "being a lazy fat **** with no talent"). Fair play to him. It's done and dusted. And when he does get the call up; he'll get my full support.

I expect Dean to make his debut against Glory next Saturday night.

With the youth squad also playing in Perth on Sunday arvo, it makes sense for Ante to have a rest, as Thomas Manos can stand in as No.2.

Tom Hewett - Bell (ex Blacktown City) may therefore get some game time in the NYL game.

This pleases me. Reserve keeper is a tough gig. It's good to see them be given a chance to have a hit out now and then.

Ronnie has been working on aspects of his technique since the games in Dubai.

Hope he makes the most of any opportunities that come his way, so that Ante doesn't get too comfortable.

Competition for places in the starting 11, is a good thing.

Had it confirmed tonight Dean will start against Glory on Saturday night, with Thomas Manos flying over with the AL squad to act as his deputy.

Good luck champ, clean sheet please.

Because THAT'S MY EXACT BIRTHDAY TOO!!

But upon investigation - everywhere else it has it as: "Date Of Birth: 02 October 1990"

:(

The dates for the others aren't month/date/year - just his!!!   :(

I'd prefer he debut against a team that isn't high on confidence and leading the ladder.

See where you're coming from, especially if it was a markovic free kick, but I think if he can at least he stops what he can and if good shots go in well there isn't too much you can do about that!

That's what you get for relying on inferior player information instead of the superior WestSydneyFootball.com player database.

I'm not the kind of person that thinks that someone that has a smoke is a leper and I think it's wrong that as a society we treat people that smoke like they have AIDS.

But mate, you're a professional athlete, think a bit before you put a pic of yourself with a durry on instagram

As a wanderer he has my full support.

But I've been scratching my head about what hard man popa thinks of him since I heard this was the guy he wanted. Would love to know.

It's just a bit of a dumb thing to do.
It's not Todd Carney drinking your own piss and taking a pic of it territory.

Just a bit immature I reckon, If you want to have a smoke and it doesn't affect your fitness or performance then go for it, what you do in your private life is your private life.

But to post in on instagram is just a bit silly...
Maybe he was trying to draw attention to his lady friend instead :good:
