Lets be honest people we have never had a better player then Tensai. Absolute boss of a player.

No one has come close, fantastic player to watch

Fun Fact: Shinji Ono was the last outfield player who competed at the 1998 World Cup to have retired from professional football

Great stat. Which goalkeepers are still playing?

Buffon was the last goalkeeper. A handful of keepers like Friedel and Donovan Ricketts played until the mid 2010's.

So the only other wc98 player still going is apparently Teruyoshi Ito who plays professionally in J3 still. But he didn't get any minutes at the WC (Shinji got 12). Maybe that was the distinction the stat was going for.

Best player we have had by such a long way. It was a joy to watch him play

He was too good for the A League, a massive thing it was to get him. A player of that quality goes to USA or Middle East every time now for sure.

Every time there is a post here I always hope he has done his coaching badges and is making a name for himself from the dugout :D He needs to come back and lead us :D

But then…I wouldn’t want him to fail and have to sack him or anything…..best to leave as it is perhaps.

Tbh he was perfect for the League.

:hi:to those that got him to come. A genius on the pitch and a humble man off. Showed passion for the colours and the fans. What it did for WSW in the early days set the club up for what it is now.

My all time favourite Wanderer player. Would love to see him pay a visit and take a bow ,he is still that much revered.

That was the New Year’s Day game right? Remember like yesterday as my old man was over and went to the game with him.

Ahhhh man…the old stadium…RBB in its infancy and before all the strife…my son still a toddler running around the southern hill…...halcyon days…..

Yep. Had a general admin membership that I used mostly to be in RBB but that game I had my two daughters in the family end, I saw the first goal from standing between the advertising hoardings while they were in the jumping castles, perfect view over the goal to see the little flick, remember it clear as day.
