Shotirio must be the most successful ex-Wanderer to have never made it overseas. And that in itself is an indictment both of what was achieved development-wise at the club since he started with us and the A-League as a whole. That was the best performance by a WSW team I’ve seen in person at Wanderland 2.0 since we moved back to Parra. Possibly the most complete win against the Nix since the Gombau-Wow era. if the team can repeat that standard of football in the coming weeks we might have more than a sniff of the dunny seat

Putting this here because it seems the most appropriate thread. Is it just me or does anyone else think that Parramatta as a place to visit for game day has really gone to shite? Theat useless bloody tramline has ripped up and gutted Church Street, in the process killing off a few fave eating and drinking venues. The Bav is much missed, they tore down the old Royal Oak and left a gapping hole there whilst newer, uglier buildings are left untouched. Hardly see any local civic pride in being the home of the Wanderers and yeah...well...Wanderland 2.0 might be state of the art you beaut stadium design but it lacks the feel, the intimacy of the old Wanderland. Maybe I'd feel different about Parra if we were winning. However to me we've lost a lot of the old vive and physical environment of the place and got very little to be that enamoured with.

Missed opportunities and some mediocre efforts from some of our players (sorry, Aquilina is not up to sniff). That Ogawa miss...FMD if that isn't like a microcosm of what it's felt like these last half dozen seasons I dunno what is. Tarnheit are nothing special but they made us look relatively blunt.

Oops, forgot to say that Baccus to the Future was very solid too. Made a big difference with his effort tonight.

Watching the game at home and the commentators often spoke of the need for the team to return to the grit and grind of the Popa era. Think these attributes were on show but it's very, very early days. Plus it has to be said still not very happy with USB-Man. Rodwell was definitely the star performer but hats off to Ziggy Gordon. Why one of last seasons best players couldn't get a start under Idiot Robinson shows just one reason why the clown was given the exit door.

Everything about the campaign, from how it’s been managed, style of play and the final goal of qualification is about as attractive as a pig with lipstick. Yes, it will be hard on the players and the coffers of the FA but thee is nothing about the way the game is being developed or directed at the international level that makes me think we are progressing. In fact I’d argue we’ve gone backward and are worse than at any time since at least the 1998 qualifiers.

I posted my thoughts about the presser in the 2022 club thread. Bottom line, so many of those who have had their 2 cents here are dead on the money. A bad decision badly made, badly explained by bad management with an undoubted bad effect on the club’s already bad image and culture.

Just watched the video. The performance from JT was pure Tsatsimas wil a healthy swig of middle management denial. For example, to dismiss Heffernan & other complaints about the club culture by suggesting people ask the 100 plus players, staff & suits about how good the culture was is pathetic. As if any person drawing a dollar from the club is going to criticise him & other higher ups. As for the infrastructure & facilities, FFS how does having seven, eight, nine pitches etc facilitate success on the pitch for our A-League teams? Investing club capital into facilities is one thing, but if you have donkeys being led by blind men around all these playing fields you won’t get any bloody better results. Frankly I would argue that the club facilities at Blacktown have become overkill, a set up that helps massage Lederer’s ego AND give JT a hook to hang his gossamer thin arguments on about how great the club is. Another thing: where were the owners? Yes, I know that this was a coaching announcement, but with the mutinous frustration held by so many members who have paid in dollars and in passion for the club’s survival, well Lederer should have been there. It’s bad enough that JT dodges his responsibility, but at least he sat there and copped it, That bloke from AFP, Geoff Clarke or however you spell his name, he was a champion. He asked exactly the right questions with the amount of energy that recognised how farcical things have become. If I ever meet him I’ll buy him a beer (a middy because I think he works for News Limited). all up...Groundhog Day. This could have been any of the press conferences to announce a coach since Popa left. Nothing in the conference should give any of us any confidence that things at the club will get better for at least the remaining months of this season.
