  1. There is a part of me that hopes Australian football never sorts itself out. I mean, if everything was going well, what would Squires have to cartoon about?
  2. It was. It has the potential to work if you can't actually hear the RBB naturally. However, due to the fact the rbb are located in the best possible spot in the stadium to project their sound to the rest of the ground you can hear them everywhere, very clearly. All the PA did, for those, like me, sat towards the other end of the ground, was ensure we heard the rbb in real time and then again on a 1 second delay. it made it impossible to participate. If that was the objective, to enable us to hear them and participate with them, then it did the complete opposite. The few of us in our bay who do sing along were prevented from doing so by this ridiculous decision. The upside is it makes popas decison to not start Santa the 2nd worst decision made by the club yesterday.
  3. No doubt the only derby being talked in the media will be the Big Brash one. That won't help... If Thunder lose again and are effectively out of contention then the Big Bash derby will be of less significance Hasn't the BB derby already been played? In the BBL, every team plays each other once and then another team again. So both Sydney teams play each other twice. That makes so much sense... its the exact same thing the FFA would do too given the chance. Its about leveraging every possible advantage for tv viewers and people attending. Is it fair or in the spirit of competition? No!. Does it sell tickets and newspaper space? YES! #metrics
  4. I thought Hamill did well, maybe my expectations are lower than the other bagging him on here. Would I start him ahead of Neville? No, not unless there was a very good reason, ie fatigue during ACL travel. (hint hint, get used to him starting a few more games soon). But he was certainly not bad in this game. Even gave Castro a dose of his own medicine a few times with some turns and tricks.
  5. Lets say we continue our current form. losing to ESFC and Victory, Beating the reds and the mariners, drawing with everyone else we are on 14 points now 06 Jan HAL Rd14 away City - 15 pts 14 Jan HAL Rd15 away Smurfs - 15 pts 22 Jan HAL Rd16 home Jets - 16 points 28 Jan HAL Rd17 away Roar - 17 points 04 Feb HAL Rd18 away Phoenix - 18 points 12 Feb HAL Rd19 home CCM - 21 points 18 Feb HAL Rd20 home Smurfs - 21 points 21 Feb ACL home 25 Feb HAL Rd21 away Perth - 22 points 28 Feb ACL away 04 Mar HAL Rd22 home Reds - 25 points 15 Mar ACL away Seoul 19 Mar HAL Rd23 home Phoenix - 26 points 24 Mar HAL Rd24 home City - 27 points 01 Apr HAL Rd25 away Jets - 28 pts 08 Apr HAL Rd26 home VIC - 28 pts 11 Apr ACL home Seoul 15 Apr HAL Rd27 away Reds - 31 pts The lowest number of points in the 27 game season to qualify for the finals is 34. And that was the year Perth got booted from the finals due to the salary cap breaches so it would have been higher had Perth not been sanctioned in this way. So in current form we won't even qualify for the finals. But how much improvement is required? If we win against the teams below us on the table (so beat the jets and wellington in the games against them) then we'll get 39 points and probably squeak in to the finals simply by virtue of the fact that the teams below us don't take points off us to climb above us. Then we'd have to do something never done before and qualify for the grand final from outside the top 2. Probably from 6th place so away finals only. remember we won't have beaten any of the other teams in the finals at all this season. If we improve our home form and win all our remaining home games (in addition to beating the teams currently below us) we then climb to 45 points. which would be pretty safely in the top 6, probably get us a home final and would mean that the only team we haven't beaten at least once this season this season will be Roar. So thats the equation in terms of what improvement is required to achieve what has been set as the target. We can't continue current form, must at least beat the teams below us on table in addition to not losing games to teams other than ESFC and MV, an improvement in home form to win those game as well should be our minimum requirement. How do we do that? i'm not sure Vedran, antonis, Babalj are the answer (although may form part of it). IMO we need more natural width so we don't have our 3 attacking mids and striker all within a 5 m radius of each other.
  6. bit slow on this one but are you being serious goat? for the third goal, clisby running back towards our goal, looks at beister, twice!!! and still fails to get any closer to him or get in a position to intercept a pass to him. Allowing the pass to go straight to him and hit the tap in unchallenged, not even an attempted block of the shot! where was he going? Clisby has been at least partially responsible for at least half of the goals we have conceded this year. Out of position V Newcastle and Central coast putting the centre backs and Redmayne under undue pressure, Failing to jump to get headers in the box against Perth and Victory. At first i thought City were crazy letting him go and signing Josh Rose in his place but as much as Rose still stinks Clisby is proving to be a great deal worse. Lets hope it turns around soon. Perhaps coming up against his old team might spark some desire to perform better. Fingers and toes crossed.
  7. Wow! I hadn't even noticed till I read this. My 6 year old has a shirt on his Christmas list and he's not gonna be happy. Even my 4 year old has been banging on about getting one with the star. I'm gonna email the club. Good luck!, we've not heard anything back. it was the christmas list that tipped us off too. The mother in law wanted to buy it for him. She showed him online before purchasing to check it was the one he wanted and was promptly told off. I just don't get it. Last year you couldn't get a home jersey in his size (size 6) for love nor money because they seemed permanently sold out. This year they aren't even offering it. Seems we aren't the only club doing it though. the A-league fan gear site shows that at least half the teams have the same offering as us. A cheap looking replica shirt at am junior official jersey price.
  8. I note with interest you feel that the Who do we sing for is falling flat. Where I sit (234, which is goal line at the opposite end of the stadium) its seems most people get into it. Just the same as at parra where we were in bay 49. I think the issue is the shape of the stadium and the position of the RBB means that sound coming from the RBB gets amplified by the stadium/roof behind them and is projected out to everyone else. and then the opposite happens coming back to the RBB the parts of the stadium facing back to the RBB has nothing behind them so the sound is lost and the sides close to the RBB are facing away so the sound is projected away from the RBB. So i think perhaps we a being a bit premature in writing off the "non actives" about this.
  9. The fact there is no official kids jersey is quite pathetic. My 6 year old son is really cut up about it. there is no way he wants the replica thing they are selling. his first comment when i showed him was. "its not a real wanderers shirt! It doesn't have the star"
  10. In that case bring in Cole as bench player. No Hamill please. I actually miss Cole and how much passion he shows for the shirt. We sort of missed him last night even though he wouldn't have made much of a difference. this precisely. With the possible exception of Bulut and Santalab we didn't have a player on the pitch for whom this derby actually means anything. Removing the core of the team each 12 months ensures this will remain the case. Its part of what gives ESFC the edge in these games. Arnie is a master of rivalry games and us not having enough people on the pitch with skin in the game just makes it easier for him. You could see the difference in attitude. When we had the ball in their half our playerwith the ball was surounded by 3, 4, 5 of theirs, One of the reasons Jumpei is getting praise is he managed to weave out of those situations more than once. However, when they envitibly won the ball back and released it forward, even when it was 2 V 4 in our half they had time and space. Our defenders would wait to see what was happening, very little pressure to force the issue was applied. This is where Cole's passion would have improved us. Derby's are rarely won through brilliance or better quality players. Derbys are won through superior effort, passion and desire.
  11. Trackstands 4 eva edit: finally mastered them. can now ride through sydney traffic without having to put my foot on the ground at all.
  12. Yeah I don't think it's Sydney's fault. Hoole isn't really a talent. He can't dribble, can't pass, can't shoot. Only thing he's good for is trying to do a trick and scrambling a throw-in white Appiah Kubi?
  13. yeah i saw. i don't think satire is a RL thing. do fart jokes work in comic form? only if the comic is in print form and has scratch and sniff.
  14. you can guarantee this. especially as a few players play for both Womens football and womens AwFuL teams. the will be lots of talking up how the AwFuL skills they have learnt have helped them get a competitive advantage etc etc. I had to hold back a bit of vomit reading that. You can just tell that they are going to say some rubbish like that. I've half a mind to give it to the ones who play both sports but meh. In reality these girls are just super talented sports people doing what they enjoy/are good at to make a living as a female sportsperson, i'm sure the players in question would be decent netballers, rugby etc players too if they had the time to dedicate to those sports also. I don't really want to be a internetz troll. I'll just have to satisfy myself with the fact that inevitably, said players will never experience anything as momentus as the olympics playing that AwFuL shite and hopefully openly state facts such as this in post match interviews at "big time" AwFuL games to blow the small minds of that games proponents.
