Miss him already :(

Is there a chance we can re-sign him for next season with the departure of some Foreign players?

Difference is, he gets paid 2x 3x as much... Big problem to keep players here

Rumor is Polenz is back in Australia and will be joining Brisbane Roar.

was there anything extra than an article a few weeks ago? Haven't heard anything since!

I wonder how much money he is on..

Probably franic level wages, I'd wager that he was on quite a high level of wages since he was one of there best players

The reason that he left us was that we couldn't afford to keep him under the salary cap.

So he must be on a decent amount of money if he comes back to the A-League

That or his Europe adventure in Iceland was a total waste of time and he'd much rather play football regularly for not as much rather than sit on the bench!

Bad news for Brisbane. Most players who leave us go on to either get a horrible injury (Hersi, Barressi), disappear into obscurity (Minnecon, Tyson, Visconte, Gibbs), struggle to get game time (Shinji) or retire from football all together (Beauchamp, D'Apuzzo, Heffernan). The only players who have left and done well are Elrich and Mooy (possibly Dino although without his player thread he'd be in the 'disappeared into obscurity' category).

I hate this news

I hate the fact he was let go

I hate the fact he might be playing for an oppo team

However...he was an original Wanderer. That honour, and the manner in which he ALWAYS did his best for the red and black means I can never hate the man. I hope he does really well for the Meow for his own benefit against all clubs bar us if he goes on to play for them.

I'd still love to know what the Sarpesborg offer was, what our (assumedly) lowball offer was and now what the Meow might be willing to offer. I can't believe in the mix of all three we couldn't have found the right dollars for JP and been able to retain him.

Yes, these figures would be interesting, though this is what happens in a salary cap league. Players only have a limited time and can't get pay rises there performances deserve. If we kept polenz it would probably mean that we wouldn't be able to sign someone like ruka, it's just the realities of a scary cap.

What a fine example of how to ruin your legacy as a Wanderer, If you mean something to the club, you either go play overseas or retire.

You'll now only be remembered as that guy who put on the number 13 and filled in at left back ...

Or what is it centre back and number 45?

I know he wasn't a CAM at number 21 that's for sure! That number is reserved in my brain for a true club legend!

I'd be filthy if he was only getting a little better than his offer at WSW. I guess he is going back to the country where people know how good he could be, I'm sure he would have loved to stay with us if he'd known how badly his Iceland excursion was going to be! Hindsight is wonderful thing!

FWIW... That isn't the way I look at it Mick.  I welcome his return to the A League.

Whilst I don't like the thought of him joining a rival, I definitely do like that he enjoyed his time here with us enough to want to return.

Let's see you all hold this lovely circle jerk when Polenz goes studs up into our first player.

Just show respect to the guy for what he did for our club in our first two seasons. But when the players step over that white line, as long as he is wearing that Brisbane jersey then he is our enemy number one for 90 mins.

Let's see you hold that sentiment when he goes studs up into Rukavysta

I said while he is playing WSW he is enemy number one for me.
