Today seems to have answered how the a league can get more mainstream media coverage

?

I think he is referring to molesting dogs in the NRL

They are going to start reporting more A-League because there is a scandal in the NRL that everyone is talking about?

Ok.

Look I don't want to burst your bubble but the Wellington Phoenix have been having group orgies with flocks of sheep since their inception into the A-league.

Beastiality is just something most football journalists don't both reporting on any more.

Unless ESFC did it. Then Bossi would run a story about how they're pioneering the practice and the rest of the league is playing catch up to Arnie's canine banging genius.

He'd end up revising the reason why they have pet memberships as well lol

Who is Tom Elliot? I imagine he has the same sort of pedigree as RBT, Jones etc?

We is the son of a Melbourne businessman/identity who used to be president of both Carlton and the Liberal party.

So, possibly less pedigree.

Simon Hill was interviewed on ABC Grandstand after our game Friday night, heard it on the way home.

Obviously he's biased towards Fox, but he said that he doesn't think free to air is the silver bullet to save the a-league. Reminded the interviewer that we have free to air already. He said that if we want a Ch 7, 9 or 10 to come onboard we have to realise that they aren't going to sink huge amounts of money in without some return, and that means we need more star power ie marquees.

Got me thinking - could you imagine Ch 9 covering the a-league? Uggghhh. Every 5 minutes there'd be ads along the bottom of the screen, they'd be selling commemorative plaques (the flag that Schmeltzy whacked!), and commentators would take time at dead ball situations to tell us about the latest episode of the Block.

God no. I love that the coverage is just about the football and would rather we get no new fans than have Ch 9 bastardise it and use it as advertisements for their crap.

As important as it is, tv money is only one of our potential revenue streams. CCM seems to have a promising long term sustainability should they ride it out in the short term. The COE they are building will provide them with a ongoing reliable revenue stream (should they ever finish it). One would hope that other clubs are considering building similar type of infastructure - IIRC Lederer said it's also part of our long term plans.

Also, IMO many clubs and the FFA need to pick up their game regarding their negotiating and lobbying. So many clubs are paying absurd amounts for stadium leasing and club training facilities.

TLDR - clubs and FFA need to encourage clubs to invest in other potential revenue streams instead of completely relying an improved tv deal every 4 years

I've had this rant in several different threads but I think it's incredibly amateurish that 10 years into the aleague there are still clubs who are leasing training facilities. What makes it worse is that the two youngest clubs have already built (MCY) or have begun building facilities (WSW) and even the poorest club in the aleague (CCM) is building something! Stadiums are a long way off, if ever, but training facilities are inexcusable.
