i thought that was sydney fc :P

honestly its great there seems to be more stability with the new owners but we will see how long that will last

lol, no thats an in joke amongst our supporters

I can see us hopefully qualifying for the finals, but it will be in the following seasons that we would be expecting much better finishes than scraping into the top six in the final rounds of the regular season.

ANDREW Hoole is set to return to the Newcastle Jets.

Hoole has a year to run on his contract at Sydney FC, but the Newcastle Herald understands that the Sky Blues will not stand in the way of the former Olyroo returning home.

Jets coach Scott Miller, who returns from Europe this weekend, tried to lure Hoole back to Newcastle in January as part of a trade for David Carney.

The Olyroos winger turned down the approach, due to the prospect of playing for the Sky Blues in the Asian Champions League.

However, the 22-year-old is now keen to rejoin the Jets and kick-start his career.

Sources close to the situation told the Newcastle Herald that Hoole is â€œhungry to play for Miller†and has been impressed “with the new direction of the clubâ€.

Hoole is expected to add to a front line headed by Morten Nordstrand, Labinot Halit, Devante Clut and Wayne Brown. The Jets have two more visa players to sign, which are likely to be in the front third.

Hoole made 15 A-League appearances for the Sky Blues, but only six in the starting side .

His signature would cap a big week for the rejuvenated Jets.

Chinese billionaire Martin Lee completed his purchase of the club on Tuesday and former Fullham midfielder Brown arrived in Newcastle on Wednesday.

Hoole, a Broadmeadow Magic product, can play on either wing or in a central role.

He signed a two-year deal with Sydney in January 2015 at the height of the Jets’ dramas under former owner Nathan Tinkler and coach Phil Stubbins.

Tinkler had made Hoole a priority saying he was "a great young prospect and we want to retain our best juniors, starting with him."

The Jets and Sydney FC tabled similar offers, but the off-field stability of the Sky Blues, the opportunity to play under Graham Arnold and compete in the ACL resulted in the attacker heading to the big smoke.

Hoole went on to be named Jets player of the year and was a central figure in the Olyroos squad, which failed to qualify for the Rio Olympics.

The Jets assemble for pre-season training on June 27.

I still think Cahill would be a great signal of intent for Newcastle. Would bring everyone who has been disillusioned over the last six years back plus some.

Would only amount to an extra loss of maybe $1m when ticket sales are factored in. Totally worth it for a positive couple of seasons.

After confirming the return of attacking ace Andrew Hoole for next season, Miller has promised the days of the cut-price Jets and the shoestring squad are over. [...] That means a full squad of 23, put together using all the concessions and loopholes allowed under the competition's salary cap.

"I think you'll see a different squad this year."

If people haven't heard (taken from the WSW brotherhood FB page)

‪#‎AlessiUpdate‬ Its with a sad heart we report young Daniel Alessi has reportedly injured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and will miss the 2016/17 Aleague season.

Daniel is the third ex WSW player to join Newcastle and suffer season ending injury early into their tenure. Josh Barresi and Labinot Haliti both suffered similar injuries not long after joining the jets.

We wish Daniel our sincerest well wishes and wish him a great recovery, Daniel is a promising young player who has a great career in football ahead of him, I am sure with the right rehabilitation and support he will come back stronger and better. All the best and get well soon from everyone at the WSWBrotherhood mate.
