Description: Janjetovic joined in mid-season 2016/17 from Sydney FC in an exchange deal with Andrew Redmayne going the other way. His start in the Red & Black was solid, and after playing in every game of the 2017/18 season he earned a 4 year contract extension. The 2018/19 season was a disaster, making numerous errors that cost the club goals & matches. He suffered a shoulder muscle tear injury in April 2019 in a game against the Brisbane Roar that was followed by another error that cost the team. His injury was extremely severe, requiring experimental surgery, keeping him out for the last two rounds of 2018/19 and missing the entire 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.

The one thing I can say goat is that first available match he starts, I think that says where the coaching staff see which keepers are 1 & 2.

Robbie Slater "Very interesting selection when he hasn't played any games or been at Sydney training for quite some time so his match fitness can't be there. It is a huge gamble to throw him straight in or suggests that he was training somewhere else"

In response to speedy whether something sinister went on, "I think something sinister went on". Obviously something we don't know.

Kalac wanted him.

He wanted out.

They sorted it with FC.

Isn't that what went on?

The love affair with Croats continues.

...

"Oh no popa doesn't show a bias for Croatian players you're just a conspiracy theorist"

So are you saying his performance didn't justify his inclusion?

No, he is just saying what redwhiteblack used to say. You know, the kid who saw Croats were others saw Aussies... redwhiteblack may have had too much beer...

I know what he's saying, I just wanted him to actually type it out and see what sort of responses he got.

Yeah but you struggle to comprehend things that aren't already spelt out for you.

First appearance in red and black, gets into the A-League team of the week.

the franjic goal was unlikely to have been saved by any keeper considering the curve from the outside of the boot.

I say good effort since there were no goals from Fornaroli or Vi$ion plus the defensive effort was much better.

a clean sheet against the smurfs would be great.

Reserving my judgement keeping my 5 game rule before deciding on the player

At first people were spewing fire over the signing, now from what I've seen there is a fair bit of love for him after 1 game. Is Vedran a good keeper? Yes. Is he better than Tyson and Redmayne? Yes, but I think he's only a few shades better than the latter. Has Vedran had his share of blunders? Yes, definitely.

On a personal, instinctual level I gave a sigh of relief when I saw Vedran would be starting. Our goalkeeping has been truly depressing this season and hopefully Vedran will prove to be an authoritative and commanding figure at the back to keep our leaking defence organised.
