2017 ACL Hopes Fade With 3-2 Loss

Scott was outclassed

Seriously? The guy took on 3 players every time he had the ball but never got support from any of our players. Was shutdown by sheer numbers but was one of our best players on the day. My thing would be on Jumpei and Shannon Cole they did nothing but lose the ball easily kept quiet Fc Seoul. Game changed for us as soon as Popa put Nico on, and Dimas actually steadied the ship when we couldn't get out of our half.

I agree with most comments here this was must win and should of gone for broke and put Santalab or Griffiths (if Santa was indeed carrying an injury) to help out Scott

Fair point you digressed better than I :-)

Scott is learning his trade. He's only 19 isn't he so of course he would look a little lost at times but the service was poor. Far too many 'Arsenal' type moves forward, back and across and then back again.
As for Jumpei, he has no cutting edge, no final ball. He runs around a lot. Surely there can't be any doubt now whether we keep her for next year or not?

but mark viduka at 19 something something....

It gets better when people say about a player "well he is only 23/24...he is still developing" lol

Plenty of 20-ish year olds playing in the top teams in Europe and in the Europa/Champions League.

To me, this is a MASSIVE issue for the A-League. We often see young players, in their late teens, making debuts in the EPL and in Europe. Yet, we're looking at debuts for 'young' players here in their twenties. It's not good enough.

Scott is young but his major weapon is his height. I cross where he could head it and he scored. With strikers they need crosses in the box not a million passes outside it.

We are so predictable that teams just learned how to stand back and defend against us. On the other hand when we have a quick counter attack or a good cross we seem to score. If you look at the last 10-15 goals we scored most came from quick counters or good crosses ....I can't remember any from a long buildup and a player taking the ball over the line like we seem to try to do most of the time.

I like Scott, has a goal scoring instinct about him, shows flashes of real quality in betwern drifting in and out of the game. Definitely one to stick with for a couple of season. Seen enough in him this season for that.

That dreaded feeling of doom for any young player is when CCM become a viable alternative option for their future development. You pretty much know if you are CCM bound you have ****ed up.

How many of those players are academy products or even English?

EPL clubs can just open the cheque book & buy the best talent from any corner of the globe.

Our academy is only in it's 2nd year & I have no doubt, that it will produce plenty of talented youngsters in the years to come.

Maybe at the moment but wasn't long ago that Central Coast was the place for exposure. A good contingent of current socceroos who have played with Central Coast at some point aka Sainsbury, Matt Ryan, Tomi Rogic, Mustafa Amini, Mitchell Duke just to name a few

Not saying it's not being addressed, it does take time. But, we've rarely seen over the last 12-seasons of the A-League where a young kid (talking teenager) has come into the league, made a name for himself and moved to a big club overseas. Academies should have been part of the set-up from day 1 of the league... but we're getting there, slowly.

Scott needs to play more, that's how he will get better. I like him, he's got better with each game. He was far from our worst player last night. He buried his chance and he created a bit.

He should play both the next two ACL games now, and should start on Saturday night. Keep Santa fit and firing for the important A-league games.
