from the A-League Head:

Given that Western Sydney Wanderers were set up in around 140 days, and many contracted players were already contracted to Hyundai A-League clubs, the FFA and the clubs decided to grant Western Sydney up to an additional two foreign players in their first two years in the competition because of concerns at the time about the strength of the playing squad. In assembling their squad, the Wanderers have availed themselves of one additional foreign player on the roster

Hey all. I'm a supporter from Wollongong travelling up to the game with friends. We might have a spare ticket (Bay 26) if someone still needs? I will know definitly tonight if the 4th person is not coming up with us. Either way thought someone might be interested if they missed out on getting one.

Cheers

Have you seen this one from today? Everyday since Wednesday he has slagged us off. We are winning this game and he knows it.

Back in October, Arnold was taken aback by the decision - well before anyone could have imagined the Wanderers would be pushing the Mariners all the way in the title race.

"I feel probably like all the other clubs - pretty hard done by," Arnold said at the time.

"If you look at Melbourne Heart, when they came into the league they didn't get any help, they only had five visa spots and all the other clubs have only got five.

"You'd like it to be a fair playing field but it's not right now. I understand the reason is because they are a late inclusion and they only had 186 days or so to prepare, but I was a bit surprised when I heard about it."

I thought swearing was considered to be antisocial behaviour according to the code of conduct the club put on us when they took away our toys.  Should we ban this man from Wanderland??

NSW Police have posted this on their Facebook page:

"A-League football fans are being reminded to behave responsibly while attending the top-of-the-table clash between the Central Coast Mariners and the Western Sydney Wanderers tomorrow.

On Saturday 2 March 2013, a near-capacity crowd of approximately 18,000 is expected to attend the match being held at Bluetongue Stadium on the Pacific Highway, Gosford

Superintendent Daniel Sullivan, Brisbane Water Local Area Commander has urged fans to support their respective teams in a way that doesn’t affect the enjoyment of other spectators.

“This is set to be a great match between the top two teams in the league, but I urge all fans to show respect for each other and for the staff who are there to run the event smoothly.

“Football fans both young and old should be allowed to enjoy the game in a safe environment, but those who engage in anti-social behaviour will find they won’t be tolerated,†said Superintendent Sullivan.

There will be a large police presence in and around the ground including general duties, Operational Support Group (OSG), the Dog Unit and Highway Patrol officers.

Police and security officers will be targeting anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related crime to ensure a safe and fun match for all spectators.

Fans are reminded gates open at 6:45pm with the kick-off scheduled for 7:45pm. They should allow extra travel time with trackwork expected on the Central Coast train line.

“Win, lose, or draw there is no excuse for violent or unruly behaviour. Anyone seen causing trouble will be arrested and dealt with accordingly.

“All fans are reminded that flares and fireworks are not only prohibited but also dangerous and should not be let off during the match.

“Those found with flares will have them confiscated and may face ejection, arrest and face a five-year ban under the FFA’s regulations,†Superintendent Sullivan said.

Police and security officers will also be conducting bag searches upon entry to the stadium and all fans are reminded that some items are not permitted into the ground.

The stadium has a strict no smoking policy and alcohol is not allowed to be taken into the ground. No glass or glass bottles, explosives, fireworks, flares, knives or weapons are permitted into the ground and may be confiscated if found.

Fans are also warned that it is an offence to enter the field of play and hefty fines remain in place for anyone caught doing so."

Lets hope everyone will be on their best behaviour.

I sat behind the heckler that game. I was giving him some stick myself. Arnie seems to be a good manager but the way he handles himself off and on the field is really low class.

I'm glad the Police posted that on Facebook. Boy my face would have been red if I'd not read that and turned up at the ground with my backpack full of explosives...

Don't forget that 'knives and weapons...may be confiscated if found'. So if you bring a concealed F/A-18 Super Hornet and can slip it past hatamoto you might get to keep it after the game...

"I think for Saturday's game this has been a great distraction for us. All the media are talking about Western Sydney, and a lot have been talking about them being favourites and what a great experience it is going to be on Saturday night for them. We haven't even thought about it until probably today [Thursday]. So they've had six days to maybe build up the pressure and we've got one."
