According to this story, some surprising omissions from the squad:

Unfortunately the full travelling squad isn't listed. I don't know whether this information is based on the club notifying the media or by a journalist getting inside information or just noting it at the airport but regardless, the club should lift its communication game and at least post travelling squad lists directly to the club's website.... for A-League games as well as ACL games. They might be surprised to know we have an interest in such matters!

Not too surprising to be honest. We have a game on Sat and if we want to be in ACL again next season we need to hold on to at least 2nd spot, so Popa isn't going to risk not having players like Ono and Juric fit for the game. Add in the fact that we have another ACL game next week as well.

agree, just like we never take our older, key players to perth. (ono has never traveled there) i think we'll keep these guys at home when we go to asia for wednesday games

May have been covered before, but is there any particular AWAY game where people are making the trip up?

There's quite a few of us heading to Japan for the Kawasaki game.

I like this.

We need a performance tonight, something to give us all a bit of a lift because after that Newcastle dross and then gifting the derby away we need a good shift putting in.

Reportedly going to be around 150 going to Japan.

Will be an interesting game.

WSW's loss to Ulsan was down to a few moments of defensive error rather than playing poorly overall, and this is their chance to get their ACL campaign back on track. However the game takes place just 4 days after a soul-lifting* derby loss, and adding a 12-hour flight to the mix will really test what WSW are made of.

The fact that ACL group stage fixtures coincide with the 2nd half of the A-League as well as the entire Finals series is a double-edged sword for A-League teams. On one hand they get the advantage of being match-fit vs the pre-season Asian sides, but this wears off after 1-2 rounds, and is replaced by the massive burden of long flights to and from Asia. While Asian sides only travel 2-4 hours to travel to most other Asian teams, A-League teams suffer the Perth Glory curse of long flights for every away game.

If Guizhou get the home win, it could really derail WSW's A-League campaign, having to travel back home and face Adelaide just 2 1/2 days later.
