Just read the tele this morning, apparently Haliti is starting instead of Bridge.

Déjà vu :xnod: Haliti to score a brace :woah:

I don't know what D'Apuzzo has to do to get dropped. I find when it comes to our left side he is by far the weak link. I can accept Bridge being dropped if that is what really needs to be done, but I think the problem on our left side relates to more than just him.

i think dropped, fair call IMO

I think Bridgey has been pretty solid. Remember he has D'Appuzzo supporting while the right side attacker gets Polenz. His defensive work rate has also been immense.

Popa dropped Bridge last season for a game after his injury.

Just a message to get him to step up I guess.

It is great to see Boban back commenting on this forum. Long before I started posting I admired his erudite and balanced contributions. I too broadly share wendybr's and Boban's feelings about ABC's posts. Perhaps it is easy for us to forget, given our current situation as a club, the anguish most other fans feel at their club's lack of on-field success and popularity. So I would be prepared to forgive ABC for his transgressions. Manfred was being brutally honest, as appears his style. As one of the few persons left alive (and certainly on this forum) who can state that they watched Manfred play regularly in his prime with BSGSC (yes, that was a very long time ago :-) I can see a parallel with his uncompromising play. Some might say he was being honestly brutal with his comments. Hopefully we remember that we are all part of the Wanderers community/family and that we have far more in common than our posts might at times suggest. As to the result of today's game, I have no prediction. I would never put any money on any A-League result, so I await it more in hope than expectation.

Hey mate, you DO realise that our Manfred is not THE Manfred Schaefer right ?

I had to ask ..... because you made a post in another thread along the lines of at least people like me, Manfred and a few others don't have to hide behind a picture or something like that.

For a guy that comes across quite dry, it was one of the funniest things I've read in here.

Didn't realise I'd cause such a commotion with my non-offensive posts. In response to not knowing how many games Misfud played: so what! To be honest I never watched the Perth v Heart game on fox nor streamed it live and I don't watch the A-league highlights show on Monday nights on SBS due to training and other commitments.

But you ManfredShaefer my friend, and at the age of 48, you seriously need to grow the f*** up and perhaps spend more time with your wife and kids rather than having a rant on this forum. I have gone through all of my previous posts and cannot find one paragraph, one sentence or even one word bagging WSW. And why would I bag WSW when the cousins and friends I have that live in Sydney ARE FROM THE WEST. Even if I wasn't remotely connected to West Sydney I wouldn't bag WSW or any other team for that matter. I'm even greatful MV have a solid crowd and the style they play (apart from now that Muscrat is the coach). My friend who is from Edensor Park and living in Melbourne for 2 years is coming with me tonight. So ManfredShaefer, if you want to continue acting like a herohead and continue to bag MH then that's fine too. Freedom of speech in Australia is good but posting the way you have is probably not the most intelligent way of going about it.

My prediction for the game tonight? If MH can play both halves it will be a 2-1 win, however gut feeling tells me it will be 2-2.

WSW leak two goals to MH? You drunk this early in the morning?

Who would you put in for D'Apuzzo? Spira is not at full fitness and D'Apuzzo>Heffernan. Cole Maybe but I don't think that would help us defensivley.

anyway ...... I heard this morning Harry actually WILL be playing now.

anyone else hear this ?

I think even with our foot off the pedal and overconfidence, I think our side is still top notch quality and it should shine through in the end.

So I think the worst we can expect is a shock draw.

While I'm confident in our team even with hersi out, we can't underestimate the hearts. What they did with roar was quite a surprise. Hopefully they'll be off target. I think the best bet would be to limit them in mid field.

True, but Roar aren't exactly known as this solid wall in defence. I see them as an open, attacking, free-flowing team.

If you look at the one-on-ones they had against Heart, I really don't think they can pull that off with us - simply because you're not going to have two of our CBs charging down a guy on the wing plus the RB or LB, iirc. (i might be imagining that though)

We'll see.

I don't necessarily believe that Heffernan < D'Apuzzo. In fact having watched the HAL over the last eight years, I am of the opinion that Heffernan in his prime was a much better player than D'Apuzzo ever was. Things might have changed but I think it is worth giving Heffernan a shot. Popa played him in the trials and he came across as a decent defensive player. He also has more ability to push forward than D'Apuzzo has.

Otherwise there is also the option of playing Spiranovic who is at least a great defensive player.

I say stick with D'Apuzzo for now, as he is certainly up on his game from the evidence of last week and the week before, versus the first two games of the season. He was badly turned by Ifill in the Nix game but haven't seen it happen since then.

Having said that I am curious to see how Heffernan may go...

Echidna seen slinking off stage right seeking hole in the ground... questions Earth's basic cycles and patterns... realises he is probably the only poster who self-represents... wonders where the real Manfred is.... wonders if Megan Borg is real or just a figment of cherished imagination... wonders if Wanderers itself might not be just the pinnacle of a dream from which he will be awoken by the inevitable thump from Mrs Echidna... sighs heavily as he curls into a protective ball, fearing that 7.30pm might bring a replay of a State of Origin rather than another vision of his dream team...

The problem Manfred is that D'Apuzzo gives the player he is marking far too much room and space. As well as that, D'Apuzzo isn't the quickest player off the mark, so he is always caught off balance. Do you notice how he always body checks players because he gets caught off balance by another players speed (he gets numerous yellow cards for that). For all our criticism of Jerome Polenz's tackling style in the last week, at least Jerome is right up on his man and gives him no room to move. Thiis is what D'Apuzzo should be doing.

I shudder at the thought of him having to mark David Williams tonight, because Williams will carve us up on that right hand side.

Interesting thoughts Mont, though is Williams on the Heart right side or on our right side? If their right then yeah, D'Apuzzo will have a game, but on our right Jerome will have no dramas.

Right now Popa has been pulling every lever and getting it right 99% of the time, so if he says D'Apuzzo starts then no argument from me (same would be the case if he started Shannon or Heffernan or even drifted Spira out on the left).

Yeah. I'll give Popa the benefit of the doubt. But 2 of our 3 goals we have conceded this season have come from D'Apuzzo losing his man through his lack of speed. Both times caught of balance The other goal was a cross from D'Apuzzo's side where the Adelaide player was allowed to get the cross in (although a bit harsh to blame that solely on him). Something to think about.

Don't know if Williams is playing on the right but I'm sure he can switch at any time.

Heart may surprise us in this evening's game.

3-2 Wanderers, but I'd rather see 8-0.

Williams has  been playing all over the park this season. ST,RW,LW, and CM from what i have seen.

He is at the moment, their best player - and that being the case, he has been used as Mr fix it by John "at least i look good in a suit" Aloisi, which may be the reason heart have been playing much more poor than they should.

IMO, play williams on either the left or right wing where his pace, speed, and general quickness can pose a threat. he is at his most dangerous when he and Duganzic swap wings when they feel like it, much like rojas and thompson last year.

so, if williams is played in postition - WSW 3 MH 1

if out of position WSW 3 MH 0.

have a feeling this came could get tricky.....heart cant score at the moment , but they are creating a lot of chances , and you get the feeling that if they get one goal , they'll get some confidence....

im expecting us to get the job done though....juric is good form , mooy will be better for the run last week , and finally the "cant win without hersi" tag is no more , as was our first come from behind win in our short history....we could have easily crumbled last week , but grew went we went down a goal , and the fact we got 3 points without playing at our best is a good sign

im picking we wont have it all our own way , but we will walk away with a  2-1 win

Now that Bridge and Hersi are both out I am a little nervous. I will take a 1-1 draw in this match (remember CCM drew with them thanks to two soft penalties given to them). I don't think it will be as easy as people think. Hopefully we will be back to full strength for the next two big matches against MV and Brisbane.

I also see this be a potentially tricky match, which is why I went for 1-1.

No match in this comp is a walkover, well not unless you are playing ESFC. I have seen enough of MH this season to show that they have a bit about them even with some players out. Looking for the usual good solid defensive performance here, would take a 1-0 win straight away.

By the way.... if you watch the match at home how many of you wear your scarf in front of the TV like me? Sad I know.

Hey, might do a living room Poznan with my son on 80mins :good: My wife will think I have gone insane

What we need is a vidcast or twitter video feed of all of us watching the game at home doing the Poznan either by ourselves or with friends/family...kinda like a 'FlashPoznan'
