Have to disagree with people saying they don't care about this...of course right now if you offered me a win in either this or ACL I'd choose the latter, but this is still a HUGE game. Don't forget that we're only in the ACL because of our league performances. Plus I'd much rather go into next week with a win in a big game than another loss.

Anyway, told a Smurf at work I was looking forward to outsinging them in their own stadium again, he replied 'It's on the pitch that matters'.

Didn't even try and pretend that they were louder!

Popa may a very shrewd move at half time last week by replacing La Rocca.

Given that he had picked up a slice of cheese & was very close to collecting another & therefore earning an early shower, Popa chose to replace him so he'd be available as a CB option this week, should NTS not be fit to play.

Whilst I don't believe CB is his best position, he'd be a far better option in that role than Golec was last week.

Golec would be pushed back out into the LB role & Trifiro or Yianni (who I believe played some minutes with the youth team) would partner Mateo in the midfield.

Cole can then be pushed forward & would be likely to start in the right midfield role replacing Kubi.

Of course the post that makes the most sense on here is from Taurus.

Thoughts on confetti/receipt rolls when the players walk on the pitch?

Or are they banned?

I think we should concentrate on Tifo's more, we haven't really taken them that seriously compared to the smurfs.

id take a win over the smurfs before an ACL win for 2 reasons

2 losses in a row isn't the start we need in the a league this year. Looking at last weeks games any number of teams looked to have improved

**** the smurfs has a better ring the **** alhilal

i know its only 2 games in but given Poppas record of slowly brining in new players it could be late November before we have our best 11 on the pitch. The title could be gone by then. A bit pessimistic i know but looking at last weekends games i cant see a repeat of season 1 if we play like we did last week next week

Interesting.

Although i would hope for us to have a fighting chance that we start Saba. Juric no doubt wont play and we need someone with creative ability.

And id rather drop Mullen and start Cole for this one, he will fire up.

* La Rocca to CB if NTS is unavailable, Trifiro in.

* Castelan off the bench for Haliti

* Ruka off the bench for Santa

I think the way that he rests players will tell how serious he is about this game in all honesty, I'm not saying we won't go out to win but I can see Popa playing cautiously with players under any sort of injury cloud apart from NTS (last season he was one of the very few players who played back to back games and this was not the case for anyone else) but will he be cautious with a ACL final next week and rest him to prevent injuries in a long season?

If you look how ESFC set up, they aren't this free flowing attacking team that there fans think they are, they are very similar to the Wanderers in that they work hard in defence, get behind the ball and look to get the ball forward quickly to counter. If this is the way that they play, then how can you see Popa playing Saba, Romeo and any attacking player that isn't 100% fit enough to work as hard in defence as they are in attack. This leaves our squad very bare on options & essentially the XI picks itself although I would have thought that Popa would have preferred to not have to play certain players that would start next week but really has little choice in the matter.

I worry about the starting lineup with this line of thinking. They reduce the gap between the front line and the back 4, so they will be very hard to break down so I don't know how effective a bridge will be in the number 10 role but we have no depth in this position. We certainly will be undermanned this week & won't be favourites to pick up the three points. Will be excited to see what we can do with a fully fit Ruka, Juric, Spira, Romeo, Saba, Adeleke and Golgol less so much, but how far into the season will these players be ready to play? #Inpopawetrust

Finally got around to picking up my tickets from a Ticketek outlet and the lady confirmed it's sold out :)

Soo pumped for this!!!!!

One thing we've all learned in the past two years is that there's different types of sell outs, and those types differ by the amount of empty seats in each sell out event.

They're all professionals, and they've all been training in preparation for the season. And if we're worried that they're not "match fit", then how will they ever be if they don't get substantial match time? I think Popa can afford to play the three newbies he can't use in the ACL simply to get their match legs - if we don't have scoring options (and Ruka, Castelen and Saba could be a handful for the Smurfs) it will be a long night of grind, something we don't need leading into the final next week.

Nice to see you still listen to ATB ;)

edit: hmmm....obviously not! haha. We discussed similar things. La Rocca as CB is NTS is N/A, Golec left, Cole RW over Appiah if Castelen can't start.

Saba has to start though.

Ruka on the bench to be unleashed in the 70th min.

Rephrase: all the tickets are sold. Whether or not the stadium will be filled is an entirely different story.

All I know is there were two ladies at the concierge and when the lady serving me swiped my card she said to the other lady "oh look soccer tickets!" Long story short: the second lady wanted tickets but left it to late and was a bit devo and joked about stealing my tickets.

Of course there is always those magic tickets that come out of the woodwork 48 hours before kick off.

Because a lot of people that normally sit in the RBB just got bronze tickets instead .. I'm guessing they struggled to sell the RBB ones

True but this is the way that Popa goes about things, if a player is not 100% or is struggling physically he will not play in the match, I'm sure in clubs all around the world if a player is 75% ready they will play in a match take Spira for example. Had it been any other club I doubt he would have spent as long on the training paddock building back up to 100% full fitness.

Makes sense, if they come out injured or sore during/after the match, bring them off as they will have three weeks to recover before next aleague match.

WSW are in the upper East stand................ upper west is mainly stadium members, and some of those will be releasing their tickets for sale.

The stadium members will determine if it is a true sell out or not.

Yeah a lot of those stadium members are the leather patch rugby twats, just like the last derbies there's no way they're showing up for this.

Actually they were pretty full last game, I was in a corporate box behind RBB and 90% of the boxes behind rbb were full. Should be the same crowd figure as boxes get lent out or the members show up for the hooligan show and free food and beverages.

and those that go back into the pool a week before are choice seats to buy if you want to take the risk and wait a few days beforehand. There always is a few members who do not take up the seats but they hold them till just before
