Should we even bring Covic, give Tom Manos some experience with the team.

Our NYL squad play MV @ Blacktown at 3.30pm on Saturday so travelling back from NZ could be an issue. The following Sunday they play Glory in Perth @ 2pm.

IMO Ante will travel to Wellington but not to Perth to play Glory on Saturday night.

Dean will wear the gloves in this fixture as Tyson did last season. Thomas can be the reserve keeper for this game.

Would they ever bench Ante?

Or if Dean plays, Manos is definitely on the bench?

Not much point in Ante travelling across the country if he won't play. They'd give him a rest to save all the travel (he's definitely done his share recently).

@lookers62

Ante doesn't need to get splinters sitting on the bench.

Perth is 9 hours of plane travel which he doesn't need atm.

Manos has to travel to Perth anyway, so it makes sense he travel over 1 day earlier as cover for Dean.

Any news on who did or didn't get on the plane to NZ?

Don't think they have released the squad lineups for the weekend yet, unless someone sees a team photo on Instagram we won't know who travelled until kickoff unfortunately!

Obviously hoping for a win to return to the A-League in style and kickstart our domestic season, however I would honestly be happy with a draw in this game. Phoenix are a bogey team and it'll be pretty hard for the boys to refocus after the incredible ACL achievement.

Appiah out? really?

Are you that surprised? I'm not.

Might not have been left out on form, Popa might have other plans for him, but this has been coming lets face it.

No Perkatis, Lo, Fofanah, Appiah. The best squad instead. Popa means business.

Very strong squad, stronger than I was expected... but as I said... Popa will want to send a message that even with our schedule we mean business.

We all know he is out of form and has been the punching bag, but more surprised he finally didn't get picked when we all know it should have been done a while ago.

Yeah, but don't forget many of our new boys couldn't play ACL and we had a limited squad, Kubi needed to play  a part in the ACL. Now selection has opened back up to the whole squad he is on the back burner.

I'm sad about Cole being left out. He would be strong off the bench.

Will be interesting to see if Alessi gets the pick ahead of Mullen.

Also, just quietly, is anyone else drooling over our attacking third?

Does our youth team play the Glory in Perth the day after we play Glory in Perth in the A League?

Boom.

Can't wait to go and watch the youngsters have a run around on the Sunday before flying home  :xnod:

I would suspect that at least in part it is a case of resting Poljak and Cole and giving others a chance.

We certainly need to see more of Castelen, and start to see some of Ruka and Adeleke. The run of games ahead provide an excellent basis for revising our likely 11 to face Cruz Azul - and get us moving up that A-League table, which is of course crucial if we are to see action in the ACL of 2016.

If Poljak is out...

Covic

Alessi - NTS - Hamill - Golec

Spira - La Rocca

Castelen - Bridge - Ruka

Juric

Wowow.

If it were up to me, and just interest wise with no tactical thought at all, I'd like:

Covic

alessi - spira - nts - adeleke

trifiro - larocca

castelen - ruka - Bridge

juric

Ohhh someone hand me a food bib

So a possible line up of

Covic

Alessi Mullen/Spira Hamil/Nts Adeleke/Golec

Trifiro/Poljak LaRock

Romeo Bridge Ruka/Haliti

Sotirio/Juric

Popa has heeps of possibilities for line up but I would prefer a younger line up and give a few senior guys a rest or bring them off the bench.

I'm hoping for a draw or somehow snatch a draw but it wouldn't hurt me to see us lose as we have bigger fish to fry in Morocco

And seriously wtf 5.30pm on a friday and it's not even the sbs Friday tv game, this should have been on Saturday.

Look, if Popa selected Kubi in the ACL final he can't think that bad of him. It's a frieken long season, giving players a rest when he can is really important to keep players fresh later in on the season.
