Pio does a lot off the ball. He only can do so much when he isn't getting the service ie Castelen refusing to pass the ball either sooner, or at all.

I don't think Pio is the problem, its more how he is utilised in the system.

I hope for his and all our sakes, he starts (he has to) and bangs in a brace or more this weekend. Get the team back on track, confidence for himself and the team, and back to our winning ways.

He may be misfiring, but we aren't at the bottom end of the table. We are 2nd and only a point behind 1st. Still 12 games plus finals to play.

I'm surprised that Romeo hasn't been copping some heat similar to what Fred has been to be honest.
We've been ripping into him for almost the entire season on ATB. But all the "media pundits" love him for some reason. Why? Because he is "dynamic"? Pay attention to what he actually does and what he actually produces. He is exciting for some periods, but the end product is lacking completely. He doesn't assist, he doesn't score. He just loses the ball every time.

The "experts" in this country only care about "flair" and never end product.

Its why we failed to qualify for the Olympics too.

I've tried to subtlety explain this.

When he drives forward and does a trick or two it looks good. How do you explain to people that most defenders know exactly how to combat this?

Teams with solid structure have contained him so easily.

I don't want people to feel like I'm being too critical of Romeo. But coupled with poor decision making and some off passes he hasn't been close to my favorite player.

I bought this up before the Derby, he needs protection from the ref. If the stands go birko evertime he's kicked, the ref will start blowing. This will make defenders think twice, giving him the space he needs to make these party pieces come off. Otherwise he's a fish out of water

It's cause there's such an obsession with speed in footballers now. It hit me a few weeks ago during one of our games in a moment of frustration that he looks alot more dangerous than he actually is by simply operating at pace. Ever since then my opinion has changed.

It comes down to this. Romeo in our line up is better with him out of it.

I call it the Drenthe factor

Finally I'm hearing peoples observations of Castelan that match my own for the last few months.

I don't want to be too hard on the guy, he wears our jersey, I'll support him.

I would just suggest that people pay attention to the end product when he has a possession. Very important because I can guarantee, this season, the vast majority of the time it ends with possession being handed to the opposition.

In the last month of football I would guess he's completed about a dozen passes. He has so much potential but is so frustrating.

Anyway, I'll keep encouraging him but I would love to get into Popas mind sometimes to see what he thinks of it all.

I hope Castalen starts on the bench this week. I think that's how he's best utilised. He has more to offer as his extra energy at least means he'll beat an extra player or two before losing it.

And this is a BIG out because this will be the first A League 'derby' game within NSW I will have ever missed, been to every ESFC, CCM and Jets game home and away since it all began! Can't believe I won't be there  I will be out of Sydney and it can't be helped this time.

Also hope Wendy has brushed up her basic numeracy skills and finds her way to the correct bay this time

Hahaha....we weren't out by much though!

Sadly this will be the first ever time I'll be missing a NSW away game too. Sigh.

:(:(

From what I can see on ticketek, there is still up to 10 tickets per person available in a lot of our bays.

I would've thought it'd be more than that.

With a new marquee, and a four for 1 deal, they might actually have the same amount of fans as we do for once.

our away bays not full either.

on a related note - ffa can we please sort the draw out so we don't have double up of nsw away games ALL in one season. very tough on the family finances (especially given the gouging from these teams for away tickets).

surely its not that hard to have 2 smurf games and 1 newy and 1 ccm one season and the reverse the next year.

Same with the Melbourne games as we have Victory and City away twice in the same season as we have all the NSW away games twice.

Six bays of WSW away

Three sold out, one more will be by the end of today and two others (one 80% full and the other last bay about 20%)

There are a lot of people mentioning on here it will be their first CCM game they have missed etc.

You are right, six away NSW games in one year is a lot, especially when you consider it will only be three next year. It's disappointing, but I'm not surprised something is giving with this game, we were only up there less than two months ago, and it will be our third trip to CCM in 17 A-league games. We will still get a better showing than ESFC do regardless.

Six away NSW games. When you put it like that, dam.

No wonder we haven't packed it out yet.

I'll be there. I'm always there. If you guys didn't shut I'd never leave.

I've been complaining about the 6 away games on ATB for a while. Its bs. Its pretty much on par with our membership prices all up. They can't keep doing this to us because slowly, people will stop attending the Jets and CCM games.

They know WSW fans travel, so why don't they help them out a bit and encourage them to travel by not giving us 6 NSW away games and 4 Melbourne away games in the same season. Its ridiculous.

They need to space it out. Newcastle/Sydney 2 away, CCM 1 away - then swap the year after. Same with the Melbourne teams. Victory away 2 times, City away 1 time - then swap.

They could easily do a Wanderers Away Pack :)
