So after the Roar won 5-0 we need a statement of intent tomorrow. Not just a one goal win. Let's smash someone for once. How many times have we won by more than one goal this season? We always seem to be waiting for the whistle. The Jets are crap. 3-0 at least surely.

This is the A-league, we can't be picky. I'll take a scrappy 1 goal win. We just need to get the three points, I don't care how we do it.

In all honesty, I want to see a decent performance which we haven't seen since January (some could argue late December).

Yes the 3 points are important & getting that scrappy win might start us on a run (much like what happened against Perth earlier this season) but we have had plenty of scrappy wins without starting a new run. If we want to go for the championship & go for a good run in the post-season cup, I just hope that all the ingredients can come together like they did in the first half of the season.

At the moment I see us stuttering, we aren't purring but neither are we bottoming out. Yes the fact that having no proper striker is having its affect plus the impact of the absentees over the past 6-8 weeks.

It's funny how a couple of weeks makes all the difference. Brisbanes win last night was an outstanding performance for sure. But they're hot and cold. Before last weeks result against us, they were beaten by 3 goals in their previous 2 games (Adelaide and Perth) and a drew with the Jets. They can't get a run on.

Same with City, and same with us. A win for us next week will put Adelaide in the same boat.

All of the top 4 will drop points that they shouldn't over the final rounds (we play the Nix FFS). It will come down to who can capitalise on that to decide who wins the premiers plate. We are in the mix and out next most important mission is 3 points today. A big win puts us back in the drivers seat. Man I'm loving how close this season is.

Game day bitches!!! Travel well and travel safe and help the boys bring back 3 points

The difference between us and other teams in the top 5 is that we can't really win big and put teams away. I still remember that first season 6-1 drubbing of Adelaide as the only time we have won really big. It just takes a lot of pressure of you when you can win a few games during the season like that. You know for sure against Newcastle it will be a battle today. Still a win is a win I guess if we can pull through.

Just curious what our record is for scoring more than 3 goals in a game and putting the other team to the sword?. Not very often at all I would guess.

Disagree that it's the lack of a proper striker. Yes, if we had Fornaroli we'd be miles ahead, but if you look at our goals scored from the player playing striker, we have scored approximately 12-15 goals. Our overall goal tally is also very good. Unlike a lot of teams, we've managed to share our goals around decently well.

Also, in terms of our strikers contribution in other facets, I think our strikers have done well. We all know what a pest Santa is, but Fathead's movement is also very good. Fathead's nowhere near as good with his back to goal as Fornaroli, but no other striker in the league compares to him either.

Our issue is our defence in our last 8-10 matches. We've been conceding around 2 goals per game. No team in the league should be expected to score 3 goals a game in order to take the 3 points.

Anyway, game day people! See you all in Novacastria

I would always love to see us win by a hatful of goal but in this instance a win is what's important. There are still a few games left and as it have been all season it's gonna be close..... Expect some strange results.

why does everyone always say "we haven't whooped anyone since 6-1 adelaide"

does no one remember Wanderers 5, Guizhou Renhe 0 :(

I actually remembered that game but didn't include it in as it is not part of A-league. I would say this year we have been more attacking focused, but our defence lets us down. When we were up 3-0 against Melb City we should have gave it to them, but never seems to eventuate :(

Agree with Alexander about the striker role. Sure we haven't been great there in terms of taking chances but we have been dominating possession and chances enough to allow for that. Adelaide were on a 14 (13?) game unbeaten run with Bruce Djite.

As for us putting teams away, I'm banking on a big win over CCM in a few weeks. That'll sort out our goal difference.

Brisbane's is all about where they play. The Newy game was an aberration. They had to come from behind and totally dominated possession and shots. In general they have been woeful away from home - those 3 goal losses both came on the road and they have taken some other pastings from good teams and struggled to get over the average teams. At home they grow another leg. We did really well last week. If they top the league they'd have to be massive favourites to take out the Championship.

Big game today in that race. MUST WIN. We need to be LOUD!!

Bad news train goers, just read on the CityRail site that trips on the Newcastle line are going to be slow due to "due to urgent track equipment repairs at Awaba and Wyong."

Scoring 5 goals is no easy feat but let's be honest, we were playing a team who couldn't have given any less ****s about that game if they tried.

I'll never forget that volley from Shinji though, that was unreal.
