Note 1: This game was a disastrous game for the Video Assistant Review system. The Wanderers should have been awarded a penalty early in the game, but both the referee & VAR missed it.
Note 2: Robbie Cornthwaite was sent off after a VAR system resulted in the referee changing his mind on a potential handball from no foul, to giving Cornthwaite a second yellow card & giving Adelaide a penalty.
Note 3: Adelaide's first goal was also a mistake for the VAR, as it missed a clear offside from an Adelaide player before the ball ran through to Kitto.

The ballboys will breathe a sigh of relief though

They would have to be ours.

I hope the FFA has put out an edict to all clubs that ball boys/girls need to release the ball without question.

After the disappointment of rejection, Nikola Mileusnic is keen to give Josep Gombau plenty to ponder on Sunday. (paywalled from Adelaide newspaper so not bothering to post link)

ADELAIDE United’s Nikola Mileusnic revealed his dreams of being a professional turned into a nightmare when ex coach Josep Gombau oversaw the winger being cut in 2014.

The qualified petroleum engineer said he thought his career was over after he was jettisoned without sampling any A-League action returning to his junior club White City before Adelaide City boss Damian Mori’s influence saw Mileusnic make rapid improvements.

After the disappointment of rejection had consumed him, Mileusnic is keen to give Gombau much to ponder when he returns to front Western Sydney’s bench at Hindmarsh on Sunday.

“When I went back to White City I’d never thought I’d be back testing the A-League especially with Adelaide United,’’ Mileusnic said after United’s traumatic FFA Cup final loss on Tuesday.

“Two years ago I never thought that I’d be playing in an FFA Cup final.”

But the modest 24-year-old has taken one more giant leap to becoming one of the revelations of Adelaide’s German mastermind Marco Kurz.

Mileusnic scored one of the great goals — if not the best seen in an FFA Cup final in its four year history — in a loss to Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium on Tuesday.

Mileusnic scored with a stunning left-footed strike into the top corner to level the tie after a superb long ball from stopper Ersan Gulum.

Mileusnic brought the ball down and with one expert touch lost defender Michael Zullo before unleashing a brilliant shot on target.

“It got us back in the game but we didn’t end up winning,’’ Mileusnic said.

“It was definitely up there, if not the best (I have scored).

“I don’t really cut in with my left and shoot and I got myself in that position, did it and it went in.”

Mileusnic’s game has stepped up after United’s A-League championship-winning coach Guillermo Amor recalled the speedster to give him his professional debut last year.

Adelaide’s general manager of football Ante Kovacevic revealed after speaking to NPL coaches last year Mileusnic was asked to impress Amor in trials before winning a contract.

He featured in 17 matches with seven starts for one goal under Amor last season.

This season Kurz has started the winger seven times in seven matches, with Mileusnic has scoring two goals. He has also scored four FFA Cup goals in five matches.

Kurz’s influence sees the winger at the top of his game with Mileusnic now attracting extra attention from A-League opponents.

“He really likes the way I play — he puts a lot of belief and trust in me,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, United’s Michael Marrone, who was at the centre of the FFA Cup final ball boy incident, has been summoned to appear in front of Football Federation Australia’s independent disciplinary and ethics committee on Tuesday from 5pm.

Clisby ran them tired in the second half. Elrich and Holland were shot in the last 10 minutes, the exhaustion was written in their faces.

Bulut plays is still busy rebooting his career from Turkish fourth tier football. Good luck.

Other than that: must win game.

We’ve got Bacuus and a half absent Herd. Melling is good for kicking people, that’s about it. Granted, he’s ******* ace at it.

Melling needs to play more

we are too nice at the moment

I loved him kicking the Arsenal players

No Baccus in the starting line up😡😡😡😡

The thing I like about us only having one DM is that their role is clear. It's clearly Jacob's job to break up attacks and give it straight to the good players.
