No. Offside is supposed to be like the goal line. It's either off or on. No grey area.

Clear and obvious errors come into play with say penalty area challenge. If the ref gives a pen or doesn't then it has to be clear or obvious to overturn it.

The bundesliga has struggled with the offside and has 3d imaging now to ensure its right.  1mm?. Linesman can't tell. Keep flag down.  But VAR should over rule and deem offside.

No. The FIFA guidance specifically says for offside that if an AR “is not totally sure about an offside offense” it’s not offside, i.e. benefit of the doubt to the attacking team. Even with VAR it’s possible to be not totally sure, especially with the MS Paint jobs they do for the offside lines.

No. Offside is supposed to be either off or on. Maybe the technology isn't good enough in the HAL but IFAB deem it's off even if it's not called  by the on field officials if the tech shows otherwise.

Offside is not part of the 'Clear and obvious decision making.

In ten years you'll have tech like in tennis and if a player is half a mm off then he'll be called offside.

And when they’re a quarter of a mm offside?

I’ve yet to see anywhere where they’ve said that clear and obvious error only applies for some things and not others. In fact I’m pretty sure the FFA have used it as an excuse in their weekly article when they’ve got offside calls wrong.
