Only 6 more at Miserable SOP.

Yeah well I reckon that was the last for me.....I can handle the club struggling and the kids being thrown to the wolves but the diabolical officiating just has me beat. I know when you're not playing well you tend to cop more bad decisions. Call it the luck of the draw or whatever but the performances by the match officials this season in destroying whatever spark of life our boys might bring into a game whenever the chips have been down have gone beyond that and have killed far too many games for us. Goodbye SOP you've been awful. See youse at Parra, assuming the club hasn't folded......

Yup. Mistakes get made from time to time and you expect 50-50 calls to get evened out over the year but we’ve had nothing at all.

This...

Even the best refs can make mistakes.

And I expect in the course of the season to lose a game or 2 to a controversial decision.

But this is just so blatant, and so constant that it can't be just bad luck.

Even the Adelaide player they interviewed at the Fox desk after the game came across as apologetic. Saying it was their worst game of the season and they were 'lucky' to win.

I think we all know 'luck' had nothing to do with it.

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

We will bounce back next season

Putting aside the crap refs and VAR, we were pathetic and looked like a lower State league side than an A -league team.

What do you expect, we have more than half of our starting team out. The boys played well for who was playing.

C'mon the refs were crap but we were still 2nd best. They were coasting.  Once we equalised they stepped up again. I'm sure had their 2nd been chalked off they would have increased the tempo to win. We created nothing 2nd half.  The calls went against us but they were isolated incidents in a game where we tried but were outclassed.

First half I would agree......not the second half though. Thought the young guys put in. Tate Russell needs to be on a multi year senior contract ASAP. To get thrown in to the deep end and only lose by 1 is a good effort with half your regulars out injured. I thought we would get pumped by three or four.

Tate Russell is a future star in my opinion.

What part of the offside rule don't the refs get...?

Even if the line was in proper position (it should be on hamill's shoulder), the Adelaide player is so far offside it should have been a simple call.

Instead, the idiot blind linesman isn't even in the right position. He's meant to be following the last defender. That is absolutely basic positioning. Both he and VAR refs need to be sacked.

First half was pretty bad but the second half was better. The conditions didn't help both teams but the worse performance came from KGJ from the air conditioned VAR bunker.

It must be so demoralizing for the young team to know that they will lose no matter how well they play because of the FFA. I would hope that the owners say something to the FFA and let Babble go lose (and pay his fine)

I would not mind if they send the min squad (all from the youth) for the next game as a form of protest or boycott the next home game.

Would love to hear the explanation from the officials about why that offside was never checked...need to hear the excuse...

And look how close the linesman is lol

This is why I feel so sorry for the linesman. He worked so hard for Adelaide, putting his reputation and credibility as a linesman on the line.

And not even a single Tobin point for his efforts. No justice.

Tonight was so tiring I can barely want to bother writing a match report. At least it wasn't 4-3 again.

No one can blame you for that. I imagine that there are not too many wanderers fans who have any enthusiasm at the moment.

No.

We need them to win the NYL Sydney Derby at Marconi on Sunday 27th. (Need a match thread for it).

Yep Tate Russell, or "Roberts" as he is known to his close associates, is a real highlight among so many dismal displays by those in the Red and Black this year. Sign him up long term.

Do not want to see Mahazi in a red & black shirt again, not on the bench and not even in the car park.

Fitzy has to play more, things seem to happen around him, maybe due to his energy.

Thought Yeboah was lucky with his head down and run, happened in front of me, he did prod his head, as i say he was a lucky boy thought he was a goner as soon as Jakobsen? hit the deck.

You're a hard taskmaster, beatsurrender.

Not only did the young lads have to battle the heat and the opposing team, but they had to battle against the refs too.

And while we certainly didn't play Adelaide off the park, I was proud that the boys gave their all until the end.

Some games will be like this, where the ball doesn't bounce your way, or the ref has taken a set against you. How well a team of players respond to that is a test of their character. And I'm happy with their response tonight. (Though there is obviously room for the team to improve).

What I'm not happy with is these 'unlucky' calls aren't just happening sometimes. They've now starting happening all the time. And what really pisses me off is the way VAR is being used as a tool against us. If even Slater (with his Sydney FC heart on his sleeve) is saying both calls are wrong and obvious errors, and the VAR does nothing, then what other conclusion can you make?

I'm not saying that just because it appears hopeless, we should just give up for the rest of the season. (Although I totally understand why some of us feel that way).

But I am prepared to give some slack to our boys for not winning games which are effectively 'unwinnable'.
