6.30 on Sunday? And given recent performances? Bugger that!

Seriously, if I lived in Sydney or was on leave from work I’d likely go to the game, but living and working M-F, 9-5 in Canberra means the later Sunday games just aren’t feasible for me.

I am going to wear a billboard and stand outside the gate at BankWest and encourage people to go home , let's protest the poor performance and the indifference WSW offers up to it's customers , the only way is to hurt Lederer in his pocket.

Meier set to leave Wanderers - report

Western Sydney Wanderers are set to cut their losses with marquee striker Alexander Meier.

UPDATEDUPDATED 1 HOUR AGO

The 37-year-old is said to have played his last match for the club, according to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald's Vince Rugari.

The 2014-15 Bundesliga golden boot winner joined the Wanderers in September, but only managed to score one goal and make one assist in 12 appearances.

Meier's struggles have mirrored those of the Wanderers - the club has lost seven of their last nine matches.

"Sources close to the situation have confirmed Meier has played his last game for the Wanderers, although the club was on Thursday refusing to comment on his status," Rugari wrote.

Meier was one of three German-based players brought in by coach Markus Babbel in the off-season, along with defensive midfielder Pirmin Schwegler and right-winger Nicolai Muller.

The Wanderers currently sit in 8th on 14 points, although all three clubs below them have a game in hand.

Nah mate....won't hurt Lederer at all.

I understand the sentiment but when you support the club you have to be prepared for the good, the bad, the ugly......we're in the ugly phase of the cycle.....we'll come good.......one day...........possibly......maybe.........:ninja:

The Australian Financial Review in 2019 assessed Lederer's worth at A$1.14 BILLION. Throw in the other rich owners and the owners  aren't going to worry about going broke because of lack of WSW supporters.

The only thing that may sting is their pride and mounting embarrassment after so many promises and the "no excuses " mantra uttered at the beginning of the season.

We have acquired a striker to replace the German treetrunk.

Let's hope he brings goals and the luck of the Irish with him.

Wanderers sign Simon Cox

Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce the signing of experienced Irish striker Simon Cox until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2020/21 season.
Cox has played over 500 games in England’s Championship, League One and cup competitions scoring 134 goals.

A powerful centre-forward, Cox has played for Reading, Bristol City, West Brom, Nottingham Forest and most recently Southend United.

A player who provides goals and link-up play, Cox has been the top scorer for Southend United for the past three seasons scoring 45 goals and 26 assists in 172 games for the club.

The 32-year-old has 30 Irish international caps to his name since his national team debut in 2011, scoring four goals.

Cox said he was looking forward to a big challenge with the Red & Black.

“I’m really looking forward to it, I’ve never been to Australia so I’m looking forward to come over and score some goals, that’s what I’m there to do, and that’s what I’ve been doing most my career. I’m expecting a big challenge,” said Cox.

“I spoke to Adam Le Fondre (Sydney FC striker) this morning and he said great things about the league and the Wanderers set-up. I spoke to Radi (Radoslaw Majewski) as well, who I played with at Nottingham Forest, and he said really good thing about club too so I am really looking forward to arriving and getting started.

“I’m expecting it to be tough, you’ve got to get acclimatised which can be tough but I am looking forward to the challenge. As someone who’s played at the top level I’m not taking anything for granted and I’m looking forward to every challenge that comes my way in the A-League.

“It’s an honour to come and play for the club and I hope that we can build something together as a club, looking forward to playing in front of what I’ve been told is the best fans in the A-League and I hope that we have some good times ahead,” finished Cox.

Cox arrives in Australia on Sunday prior to the Wanderers double header against Perth Glory at Bankwest Stadium.

Can’t say I’m feeling anything positive about this one, maybe new striker new “insert something positive here”?

Chances are that they won’t just play him the day he arrives.   Perth are playing themselves into form, they are doing well. Doesn’t bode well for us.

Ummmmm.......does that say has scored 3 goals in 19 games in League One this season. I don’t think I’ll get too excited for now.

Hes an out of favour striker..Sol Campbell hasnt used him so often. Southend are a basket case of a club at the moment..going under.

If he can hit the back of the net here all good with me. I remember him from a few games against the Boro.

We should have for ex Southend Utd hero Stan Collymore

It smacks of desperation.  A bit of a Hail Mary. Maybe he'll work out. Maybe he won't. Meier certainly didn't.

Exactly, that what it sounds like to me. Babbel's all in play here to hold on to his job. If it works he may keep he's job, if it doesn't then he goes and the new manager is then stuck with a striker he didn't choose himself. We then go around the same circle again.
