BohemianDublin Posted May 7, 2016 Totally bizarre. There are a few of us at Wanderland who still play for Northbridge. If you'd said to me, 10 years ago, that this fixture would have been taking place, I'd have questioned your sanity. For anyone interested, Northbridge Oval is a lovely setting to watch football. The ground is synthetic for the last few years and I'm sure you'll enjoy the game. Northbridge FC is a good footballing club with over 2,500 players. We try to promote football as best we can here in northern Sydney, Taurus, DCWSW, Alexander and 1 other 4 Link to comment

Taurus Posted May 8, 2016 In I'll have to give it a miss today. Mother's Day luncheon ain't gunna happen until 1pm, leaving me insufficient time to drive across the border to the North Shore. I assume Layles will be there, but if not, keep us up to date with SM updates. Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment
KGee Posted May 8, 2016 Wonder how strong those South Coast Mariners are? Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment

Alexander Posted May 8, 2016 1-0. Was a tight game which resembled a match in the Championship at times #NoMidfieldPlay. Although the score did flatter North Shore. Scott scored a nice goal from just inside the box with 2 players all over him. Highlight had to be the bacon & egg roll I had at half time though Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment

Alexander Posted May 8, 2016 (edited) Definitely, 21 Club Championship Points on offer at each derby. However, these NPL2 teams don't just roll over. I was at the game today, we could have easily lost that game. The u20s also blew a 3-1 lead to draw their game 3-3. We don't want to become a club that cares more about winning derbies than winning silverware. Reminds me of another A-League club in Sydney... Taurus Posted May 9, 2016 Lachlan Scott seals win for Wanderers Monday, 9 May 2016 The Western Sydney Wanderers kept themselves within one win of top spot in the PS4 NPL2 after defeating North Shore Mariners 1-0 at Northbridge Oval. Recently-named NYL Player of the Year Lachlan Scott scored the only goal late in the game to seal the Red & Black’s eighth win of the season. With Sydney FC winning their match the day before, the Wanderers needed a positive result to keep within touching distance of the league leaders but had to work hard in a first half devoid of scoring opportunities. A half chance fell to Mario Shabow early on but the North Shore keeper, who was initially caught out of position, reacted quickly enough to spare his blushes as Shabow almost set-up an open goal with a deft touch at the top of the box. From there the match took its time to turn into anything resembling a spectacle with shots straight to the keeper by Alusine Fofanah and Josh Macdonald the only real moments of action before the break. The second half followed suit in what was turning into a tense match, taking 30 minutes for the next noteworthy moment as Shabow stayed on his feet – after what looked like a foul in the box – only to see his cross fly narrowly over Lachlan Scott’s head. But Scott didn’t have to wait much longer for his chance as 90 seconds later he received the ball at pace, cut inside a defender and finished calmly to score the winner. It was a delightful finish and a goal worth the wait from the striker who has now scored 11 goals in 10 NPL matches this year. The win keeps Wanderers two points off first place with the Red & Black taking on fourth-placed Marconi Stallions this coming Sunday, 14 May. Kick-off is 7pm.
