Western Sydney Wanderers fans banned from this weekend’s Sydney FC derby in NSW NPL2

SYDNEY FC have banned Western Sydney Wanderers fans from Saturday’s crucial NSW NPL2 match at Lambert Park, Leichhardt - the first state league derby between the A-League rivals.

Angry Wanderers fans have taken to Facebook, criticising both Sydney FC and Football NSW, and some calling for fans to arrive outside the ground and cheer their team on regardless.

Only Sydney FC members and players’ families of both teams will be allowed into the match.

A statement on the club’s website said: “The decision to restrict the attendance to Sydney FC Members and players’ families was taken to ensure the orderly conduct of the football matches at Lambert Park, Leichhardt.â€

The two A-League clubs established academy teams in the NSW NPL2 this season.

On the Wanderers Facebook page, supporter Paul Boudaher said it was a “disgusting move by SCUM FC just to ensure that the Red and Black Bloc don’t do their part as the 12th man in the Derby which has a big effect on club champions.â€

Nick Pleadin called it idiotic: “Football NSW you’re a bunch of incompetent fools. A-League derbies this year were attended by over 100,000 fans and trouble was minor. Football NSW you’re holding the game back with decisions like this.â€

Silvio Roldan urged Wanderers fans to turn up and “simple, just chant outside Lambert Park 2pm., I’m sure it will overshadow smurfs inside stadium anywayâ€.

Before the announcement on Wednesday morning, Wanderers player Liam Youlley had been confident there would be an atmosphere similar to an A-League derby.

“When you play Sydney FC it doesn’t matter where the teams are on the ladder. It is always a good game,†Youlley said.

“We are doing very well, considering we have young players between 16 and 19 playing very experienced teams.â€

Youlley was part of the Wanderers’ A-League and NYL 2015-16 campaigns and is using the NPL2 season to improve his football and maintain fitness.

“When (the A-League) pre-season comes, I will be working my butt off so that I can be a first-team regular,†he said.

Separate the decision from The Cove, we didn't want wanderers fans banned and we advised against it.

Releasing a statement to that effect, would most likely appease plenty of fertile minds

The Cove releasing a statement separating themselves from this decision would be important. The Cove boycotting the game by standing outside Lambert Park would put such a statement into action. It's over to you Stpeters.

We're not going to boycott or release a statement. We are going to support our NPL team not make statements or boycott for rival fan groups rights.

@Stpeters, your tale of events seem to contradict that of /u/djpain on Reddit. The guy was more than happy that WSW fans were banned and said it was because of our trouble makers. Apparently he is a Cove leader so theres that.

Fair point.

Not like the RBB would do the same, although i dont think we have a club which would make such decisions

Some people have different opinions, not sure what the tale of events are you're comparing. Djpain hates WSW for many reasons and some fans who just want the other group to fail no matter what.

I wonder if we return the favour at the next home derby or make a statement by not having these stupid restrictions....

They'd trip over their lattes, dirty their Calvin Kleins and break their Alex Perry sunnies besides, they wouldn't know how to get daddy's BMW to Popondetta Park anyways...  :ninja:

It was a ridiculous decision made by our eastern foes.

Instead of having 2 rocking NPL2 Sydney derbies, we'll have 1. Can't wait for the game at Ponpondetta

Hates WSW yet lives within walking distance of Marconi.

Bloke has got issues.

Just for the record, I don't HATE anyone. Dislike plenty, but there is no coming back from hateful thoughts

Sure as **** wouldn't be able to drive the thing out of the carpark if they did make it there  :ninja:

M3 wheels would go on gumtree in less than an hour :xnod:

A pulley and some rope might help get them up faster? :)
