    Post Game Report: A Servet Unzular brace and a goal to Kingsley weren't enough for the Wanderers Women to defeat Adelaide in their first ever W-League match. Despite being 3-1 up the Wanderers Women were unable to hold Adelaide off as they finished the match strongly with a Sarah McLaughlin hat-trick proving the difference.
    Note 1: Servet Unzular scored the first ever competitive goal for any Wanderers team with the first goal of the match, as the Wanderers A-League team had played three games without scoring in the A-League and the Youth team were yet to compete.

I honestly don't know why they don't play these games at curtain raisers to the main A League games.

 

If not this then why not the youth league. It is my only real gripe about the two games I have attended this season.

It costs more money to play more than 1 match at an event. There would also be worries about state of the pitch.

The game finished 4-3 to Adelaide:

The pitch is the factor, no football leagues in the world play curtain raisers because the pitch needs to stay slick and they need to water it etc.

Honestly, both those reasons sound like rubbish given what happens in the NRL every week and how the NSL was run for decades before. You could both be right though.

 

Having nothing on is boring. I always rock up early and in was great to see the young up and coming players strutting their stuff before the main game.

And it actually doesn't bring in more fans either. I prefer to watch the women at the smaller, boutique stadiums. Better atmosphere.

I notice that there doesn't seem to be a record available of the starting team for the Wanderers for this game. Nobody seems to have recorded it???
