The ball was in the defensive half down the right in our possession with no danger at all and it was mis-kicked across goal basically straight to the brisbane striker who strolled in and beat the keeper. Had me on my feet actually. I thought we were going to get an equaliser but no. In injury time Catherine Canulli had basically a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper and should have scored to get a draw, 1 meter either side of the goalkeeper and it would have been but she hit it straight into the goalkeeper.

In the end we well deserved to get a draw against the champions but lost 2-1, just an awful goal beyond words to give away and an almost equally awful miss being the difference.

I think Canulli and Fors were the best players again, Alesha Clifford was quite good in defense, and midfielder Vanessa Hart had an epic game in the heat as I saw her looking exhausted halfway through the first half but she just kept going and going until the 95th minute.

An unfortunate 2-1 loss in hot conditions, it was 34°C at kick off but both teams put on a great game in the heat.

Brisbane dominated the first 30 minutes and were 2-0 up and it looked like it could end up 5-0.

Brisbane's first goal may as well have been an own goal. The ball was in the defensive half down the right in our possession with no danger at all and it was mis-kicked across goal basically straight to the brisbane striker who strolled in and beat the keeper. Awful goal to give away. A more perfect pass to the opposition striker you could not make.

The second brisbane goal was a through ball over the top of the defense leaving them standing there, so it was a 2 on 1 with the goalkeeper but it was just knocked over the top of the keeper and gently bounced into the goal. At this stage Wanderers looked totally disorganised.

The second half we were much the better team, the women just dragged themselves back into the game, had much more of the ball and many more chances, however brisbane still had a few chances including a shot that was curling in before Helgadottir made a fantastic save.

Louise Fors scored directly from a free kick 25 yards out, fantastic strike! Had me on my feet actually. I thought we were going to get an equaliser but no.

A point would have been so valuable. Will require at least 2 wins out of the last 3 games to make the finals and there are no easy games from now on, and even then they don't want to finish 4th and likely travel to perth for the first week knockout final game.

Anyway I believe next weeks game versus Victory in Melbourne on Saturday is streamed live on abc at 2pm or 3pm (not sure which) and 1 hour highlights on abc tv at 5pm.
