    • Hi Manfred, I didn't intend my post to be a direct response to your conversation above.  What I really wanted to say is that everything going on these days is so fricken depressing that I wish I could go somewhere else and leave it all behind. i.e. get off the world. BTW do you remember the old Army Reserve adds on TV with the 1812 Overture as a soundtrack?  I thought they were ace!
    • Back in the day I had a t-shirt that I picked up whilst doing basic training in the A.Res. It said 'Join the Army...Travel to exotic distant lands...Meet Interesting People...and Kill Them'. At a time when I was young & not so aware of how words can hurt, I thought this was fekking hilarious. Also, it was at a time when violence wasn't so politicised and prevalent...I knew I would never actually have to worry about the darker ideas behind the 'joke'. Nowadays, I would be a fekking idiot to wear such a thing, and to do so would demonstrate an immature personality, or indeed a desire to be provocative for one's own ego, based (in part if not totally) on an inability to be empathetic or understanding of how other people may react. This is what it all boils down to; by refusing to sublimate your own ego, by refusing to acknowledge the humanity of the other person and consider how your actions effect them, then you are encouraging hatred, bigotry, prejudice and all the associated negative effects these 'values' entail. JP's edge-lord right wing 'proud boys' acolytes are focused on their own egos, their own insecurities, their own petty and ridiculous fears, that he in turn encourages and exacerbates. Throw in his ridiculous obsession with 'cultural marxism' (a pathetically moribund right wing 'intellectual' canard) and his hucksterism of his five & dime 'philosophy'; no wonder he can't find it in himself to refuse to associate with Islamophobes..
    • Im worried that the more foreign players we can have in the squad, the worse Australian football will get. I reckon we keep it at 5 but change it so all 5 can be outside the cap.
