This VAR thing seems to be working out well. Can’t believe the game has functioned without it.

A VAR disaster of epic proportion has sent the final of the African Champions League final into total chaos to cause one of the most unbelievable conclusions to a football match you will ever see.

Holders Esperance were leading 1-0 in the second leg and 2-1 overall when play was halted, and after a 90-minute delay the referee awarded the match to the home side.

“The playing and security conditions were not met during the second leg of the CAF Champions League final, preventing the match from reaching its conclusion,” CAF presidential advisor Hedi Hamel said Wednesday following a lengthy executive committee meeting in Paris.

“As a result, the match will have to be replayed at a ground outside of Tunisia... (and) Esperance will have to the give trophy back.” “The match will be played after the Africa Cup of Nations at a date to be determined,” he added.

Of course, that meeting had to be held in Paris.

These guys make the FFA almost look professional.

Mario Balotelli has been reported to police for paying a local bar owner €2,000 cash to drive a moped into the sea.

The incident occurred in the coastal Neapolitan town of Mergellina on Saturday, with Balotelli filiming it.

As seen in different clips, he seemed to bet Catello Buonocore €2,000 that he would not drive the moped off the shore, before handing over the cash and laughing as onlookers gathered to watch and cheer the barman on.

However, the Italy striker has now been reported to police in Naples for ‘criminal solicitation and gambling’, as have Buonocore and two other people.

The quartet also face charges for the abandonment of hazardous waste, linked to the act of driving the moped into the sea, although it has since been retrieved.

The 28-year-old is currently without a club after Olympique Marseille chose not to renew his contract.

NgI was listening to The Guardian Football Podcast and there was some discussion on Manchester City fouling tactics. Apparently the CFG have analyzed where to commit fouls on the pitch without getting a card. It was observed that MC also commit fouls on a rotating basis.

Sou and familiar!:ninja:

I don’t think it’s the fact they’ve analyzed it but they’ve effectively found a loop hole. They were also correct when they compared it to Mourinho’s rolling tactical fouls, but they’ve changed the interpretation so persistent fouling of 1 player or multiple consistent fouling can be picked up.

Break it down, they perform fouls high up the field where (1) they aren’t stopping a promising attack (2) Perform careless not reckless fouls.  You can be aware of it all you want but as long as they are doing it within the LOTG, I can’t see how the referees can intervene.

Potentially referees could ping for persistent infringement but still difficult because these fouls happen irregularly (how many times do opposition surprise City), not targeting a specific player & by many different players.

Not sure what's the bigger news. Archie transferring into Spain or out of Fox Sports.

It’s the second one, he’s going over to play on the Spanish equivalent of Canterbury district All Ages
