ALCOHOL!

Recommended Posts

Seems to be a crap load of threads for food (and every second non-food thread gets turned into a thread for food), but there doesn't seem to be a thread specifically for alcohol.

For a bunch of pi$$heads this is both surprising and very, very disappointing.

So I thought I'd ask a couple of questions; instead of doing work. And I'll start off with my answers as well.

Beer, wine or spirits? Beer. mostly, but I do like a scotch every now and then.

Favourite beer for a long night out? Super Dry or Carlton Draught.

Favourite beer for a celebration? Becks, Heineken or Stella Artois.

Preferred spirit? Scotch, usually stick with the Johnny Walkers. Don't mind a Canadian Club or a Jamison's to mix it up a bit

Least favourite drink? I've had a couple of "bad reactions" to a night of tequila shots. Don't think I've learnt my lesson though

Maybe you've tried a drink recently that not many people would have heard of before, that you would recommend- or recommend to stay clear of??

spirits

I don't like beer but the only beers I can finish are Dutch beers lol, so I guess Heineken or Amstel.

favourite spirit is definitely Irish whiskey (Jameson is the best) but I also love vodka and gin.

least favourite drink is bad wine. I can easily drink bad vodka or bad scotch or something... but bad wine makes me throw up the next day haha.

**** I forgot sangria, that **** is amazing. the Spaniards sure know how to make wine.

So much this sangria..................

tranquilo's mum makes the best Sangria, not sure if ive told you guys she also looks like J-lo

the father makes the sangria and my mother looks more like that sofia vergara chick from modern family. Hence why im still being breast fed.

also forgot to mention i dislike vodka sorry not a huge fan same with the lollipop drinks there nice n strong some of them but just way too much sugar.

Vermouth or a cinzano rosso with ice n lemon squash is relaxing gets the throat ready for game day.

Preferred spirit? Single malt whisky.

I've got an awesome bottle of 21 year old Glenfiddich that I'm generally too scared to touch. Had about 3 drinks in two years, save it for weddings/funerals etc.

Absolutely delicious though, if I could afford it....I'd drink it more often :xnod:

i've been more or less dry the last couple of years but:

I have a lifelong love affair with tooheys old. it's not the best for a long night out though. for that I might go with another old man beer in reschs or maybe hit up the coopers pale ale especially if it's hot. for a celebration I might go a stout.. maybe... i tend not to make too many distinctions though.

spirits as a former colonial expat I go gin and don't mind a scotch everynow and then (single malt of course!).

as a young 'un i used to hit up the captain morgan's rum  i was very excited the day I met captain morgan's grandson... ahmed

i don't mind a red wine but it's never been my drink of choice.... but least favourite are definitely sweet liquers and stuff, malibus, that kind of thing.

Why don't you bring her to the games with you?

Also, back on topic, I don't like beer, I just drink scotch with my breakfast, lunch, dinner. dessert, snacks, basically 24/7

This is certainly my favourite subject...

Let me brace myself for the ESFC jokes.....

Beer, wine or spirits? I drink everything..... It depends on what I am eating, as I like to match food & wine.... It also depends on where I am and what time of the day it is...  I also have a cocktail bar at home, by the pool, it compliments the coffee machine inside, where I make my lattes...

Favourite beer for a long night out? Any German wheat beer or English Ale... (I don't really like Aussie beer... I reckon you would find every missing cat in Melbourne, at the CUB plant pissing in empty VB bottles..)

Favourite beer for a celebration? As above  - particularly Black Sheep

Favourite Wine Variety? Any NZ Sauvignon Blanc or Coonawarra Cab Sav...

Preferred spirit? Single Malt Scotch, (Share Jacko, share)....

Least favourite drink? Gin, tastes like ****in' celery...

^ I dont know how what they are doing to their wines in marlborough NZ (maybe unicorn tears?) because every wine that comes from there is 10/10.

Absolutely, I would move there..... if it wasn't full of Kiwis...

Firstly good spot about the lack if a thread on it. Something we all overlooked obviously.

Beer, wine or spirits? Spirits. I'm a scotch man though will sometimes get on the beer.

Favourite drink for a long night out? Johnnie Walker red label. If I was on the beer though I would maybe get onto Pure Blonde probably.

Favourite drink for a celebration? Johnnie Walker Blue label is pretty smooth. Though on a cruise I was drinking the cocktail 'Sex on the Beach' for pretty much the whole trip.

Preferred other spirit? House-Scotch when I'm at the pubs and clubs and I'm on a drinking night because that will save some cash. Hahaha. Canadian Club, Jamison's and sometimes Vanilla Galliano with coke (it tastes like vanilla coke so it's pretty smooth and I seem to drink it like water).

Least favourite drink? I can often struggle to finish the bottom of a beer which I think is why it put me off it. I'm not really a shots person as there is no real enjoyment of the drink. So jelly-shots are probably my least favourite as its often hard to get all the bloody jelly out hahaha.

Maybe you've tried a drink recently that not many people would have heard of before, that you would recommend- or recommend to stay clear of??- There was a couple of cocktails I had on a cruise that just didn't want to be digested. Something that had blue curacao. It was coming out all different colours and quickly and we were spending the day in Fiji. It's safe to say I have stayed away from most cocktails since.

ABC shots..

Absinthe's alcoholic content varies from 22 to 37% alcohol.

Bacardi 151 is 75.5% alcohol and is highly flammable.

Chartreuse (Green) is 55% alcohol.

I haven't tried this shot, but I bought a bottle of absinthe in Prague (I think- it was on Contiki, and I was seriously f***ed up) that was the absolute bomb. Holy ****, took me 3 weeks to recover

Maybe you've tried a drink recently that not many people would have heard of before, that you would recommend- or recommend to stay clear of? Used to get on the Rakija in high school with some Serb mates, one of them used to swear it was 60% alcohol, that stuff would burn thru your throat. Used to go down well with a bit of lime cordial.
