westofcentre
just an update change in venue to Lone Pine Tavern Rooty Hill which is just on the other side of Rooty Hill. We just had a visit to the venue this morning, the manager was quite accomodating for us and its more family friendly. There is ample room, pool tables, bistro and play child group area and we are more than welcomed to make some noise/chant etc. I ll try to change the venue on the original poster. Also said that Wanderers fan group will be registered with the club, the more we spend the more potential benefits we can have. To start off - we will receive cards which will give us a 10% discount on drinks. Keep us in the loop how this goes west...maybe us folk in the WOW group can find something similar on offer from one of the pubs/clubs we may haunt. Also if you or anyone on the Blacktown Bloc sets up a FB page let us know...we can always link in with ours Will do. Thanks mate. I am thinking we need to get the word out there first through football clubs etc then maybe try a BBQ. The Lone Pine is happy to advertise our group on their website. Like Tranquilo said he was very accomodating. I will look into face book. I am not the savviest when it comes to these things, perhaps someone in the Blacktown Bloc with a bit of know how can do it. Would be good to to come up with an emblem we can put on the FB page maybe link it to FB pages of football clubs too? Link to comment
Tranquilo
The key is to unite fans who might not know anyone in their local area who also follow wsw and also to expand our wsw family to new interested parts of the community. Ive invited one local football club to attend next saturday and hopefully we can get in touch with a few other local clubs. So if you play football locally please encourage your team or fellow club to come along and meet the wsw family on saturday for a few drinks, chat and socialise. Link to comment
westofcentre
Well said Tranquilo. Who did u invite? Did u speak to president of a local club or guys you know in a team? I am trying to think of the most effective way of communicating with clubs. Speak to te orris set for example and we get a mention in the local newsletter that goes out to all parents? What was surprising was the owner of te tavern said Wanderers fans attended the tavern for the GF. Also they have experience in hosting community gatherings. Tey already do it for GWS Edited May 9, 2013 by westofcentre Link to comment
Tranquilo
yes had to giggle a bit when he said we have GWS fans on our system, a few friends have asked if they bring along their team, so i believe the jets may come along, but theirs a huge potential in terms of local teams that we can have ties with. WhoDoWeSingFor
Ok so I played around with setting up a Facebook group, but it all fell down during the set up (told you Manfred lol). That aside, would this banner rate at all ? Could use it for the Lone Pine's website maybe. Tranquilo, West, thoughts ? Link to comment

We can set it up and link it to local club sites and also other support groups. I woul have "Blacktown Bloc WSW Supporters" - Bloc has been ok'd by RBB and creates an immediate connection with fans. I am not site if we can use the club logo - we aren't making profit out of it - assume would be ok but may be issues. I think part of the fun is coming up with an emblem. So lets get cracking lol. Post some emblems up Link to comment
WhoDoWeSingFor
Yeah I wondered about the emblem but in the end got lazy haha. In honesty I'm hoping there is someone else out there who is more of a Facebook user to develop the group. I rarely use the site, but was having a bit of fun trying. Link to comment

Redhead
I like the banner. I'm not sure about the club logo. We could ask them. The only thing that came to mind as a logo for Blacktown was the one Blacktown Council use, but that may be a problem too. Perhaps we could do something with "Black-and Red-Town". Or a picture of the Rooty Hill with one of our flags at the top of the hill??? Link to comment
Braids
Fair point. It is great there. It's my local but I'm sure it would be to small for us? You just reminded me of another place. We have made contact now with Lone pine and the owner is happy to support us. But there is value in the Norwest. It is an area with many young families and surprisingly a stronger football culture then many would expect. Link to comment

Redhead
If I understand the FB posts about the WSW Powerchair football club, they are playing their next game at 2.00pm at Mt Druitt on18 May. I'm considering going to support our powerchair football team and then swinging by the Lone Pine to continue supporting WSW. Link to comment

Its one station away at mt druitt station,5 min car drive between lone pine tavern and kevin betts or about a 20/25 minute walk. Link to comment
wswanderersfc
what about kings park tavern on sunny holt they are working on it now it will have a drive through bottlo and its going to be huge plus easy to get to and from i.e(t-way) plus there is a maccas and k.f.c right next to it Link to comment
Tranquilo
thats a good place as well, blacktown is a large area so our first get together planned for this saturday is at lone pine tavern rooty hill. Then we can look ahead to moving inwards towards the blacktown/rousehill/kings park area for our next get together. Try out a few different venues to bring in more fans. Link to comment
wswanderersfc
sounds like a plan. any clue on who the boys are playing against on saturday?? Link to comment
Redhead
I've checked their FB page, but it doesn't say who they are playing. I will check later in the week. Link to comment

wswanderersfc
yeah awsome cant wait. also awsome idea on staring this blacktown region idea think it is going to work really well and keep everyone in touch in the off season and bring alot more fans in the mix Link to comment
Tranquilo
exactly were just lookin to find someone who is good at facebook to maintain and open a page, once the off season is done then come season time there will be a focal gathering venue for those within the region. Then interlocking with other region supporters for major events. We have to reach out to the community its the difference between just attending a match for 90 minutes and belonging to a football community club that always tries to maintain in touch with its supporters. wswanderersfc
yeah there is defiantly so much room to grow in blactown and its surrounding suburbs i know i will be spreading the word about saturday. as for facebook i cant help although i will ask around and see if i can find anyone who know what they are doing and if they can get one up and running for us. although is there a chance f it possibly dividing the rbb in to sectors and making it a war against each other to have the best active support group with in an active supoport group?? Link to comment
Tranquilo
theres no division here, as this is just a supporters group for all fans of different council regions. In each area bloc there may be fans who stand in the eastern or western side or RBB, south end etc but it will always be just a fans supporters group. Link to comment
wswanderersfc
yeah fair point. im pumped i know there are a few people that will be excited to come down and have a a beer with fellow wanderers in the off season. im looking forward to this taking off in the near future Link to comment
