THEWANDERERSPOST
LFG thought it was being announced at 2 but was still excited to see we got it, even if I was 10 minutes late. Feel like this is huge for Aus football landscape. Hopefully there are some good tours or something like that. sonar, Potkorok, wendybr and 2 others 5 Link to comment

Neverbloom
its somewhat good news, i mean us getting it is amazing but the entire new zealand thing kinda sours it a bit Link to comment
SomeGuy1977
I'd wager that Europeans voted against us based on the time difference making it hard for them to broadcast the games and make money out of it. **** them. It's our time (and New Zealand's too I suppose). This will be awesome. EmMac, sonar, Potkorok and 2 others 5 Link to comment
Edinburgh
UEFA give their reasons. They also agreed to vote as a block. https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/votes-breakdown-uefa-defend-going-against-australia-new-zealand It looks like every confederation did the same as UEFA and each voted as a block. No one tipped that. EmMac, Paul01, Prydzopolis and 2 others 5 Link to comment

EmMac
So UEFA says voting for Columbia was about advancing women's foottball in that region. What about how amazing an impact for Oceania to have the football here in OZ and NZ? Arguably it needs the boost more. So sorry, their reason for not voting for the best bid rings pretty hollow to me. Farrrk you UEFA, football is coming to the Southern Hemisphere. MartinTyler
Just now got to make sure all our venues are in good order and we don't get into a shitfight with the other codes which will usually have access to most of the stadiums at that time of year. Potkorok, EmMac, Prydzopolis and 4 others 7 Link to comment
Carns
Considering it's 3 years away they can reserve the venues now and league teams can work around it for 4-6 weeks. Shouldn't be a major issue. The revenue from the World Cup will be incentive enough to ensure Governments (both State and Fed) ensure there is minimal issues. I'm sure the NRL will go cap in hand for some sort of compensation, but there is more than enough time to sort out a relatively minor issue. wendybr, Paul01, Prydzopolis and 1 other 4 Link to comment
