Yep, about 3-4 am Friday morning our time is decision time.

Nikou said on the Big Sports Breakfast that the vote is the last item on the FIFA Council agenda.

Nikou didn't give anything away. No gloating but matter of fact. Looks like FFA (Johnson and Nikou) are final playing football politics AFC and FIFA style.

Concacaf still possible to win some votes from US and Canada if we play the game right. But if the UEFA article is correct we might struggle

LFG thought it was being announced at 2 but was still excited to see we got it, even if I was 10 minutes late. Feel like this is huge for Aus football landscape. Hopefully there are some good tours or something like that.

Suzy Wrack (@SuzyWrack) Tweeted:
"The joint bid submitted by Football Federation Australia and New Zealand Football received 22 of the 35 valid votes cast by the FIFA Council members in the first ballot, with the Colombian Football Association having obtained 13 votes."

And for Smoggy, the English FA voted for Colombia

We know not to trust UEFA. Looks like Concacaf and CAF voted unanimously for the joint bid.

Let's hope the various state governments start splashing a little more cash our way.

I'd wager that Europeans voted against us based on the time difference making it hard for them to broadcast the games and make money out of it. **** them.

It's our time (and New Zealand's too I suppose). This will be awesome.

UEFA give their reasons. They also agreed to vote as a block.

It looks like every confederation did the same as UEFA and each voted as a block. No one tipped that.

Not sure how the female qualies work but as Aus and NZ don't have to qualify...........it would be good for the region if  another Oceania team gets in.

So UEFA says voting for Columbia was about advancing women's foottball in that region.

What about how amazing an impact for Oceania to have the football here in OZ and NZ? Arguably it needs the boost more.

So sorry, their reason for not voting for the best bid rings pretty hollow to me.

Farrrk you UEFA, football is coming to the Southern Hemisphere. All aboard the awkward time zone express  :P :D

Just now got to make sure all our venues are in good order and we don't get into a shitfight with the other codes which will usually have access to most of the stadiums at that time of year.

Considering it's 3 years away they can reserve the venues now and league teams can work around it for 4-6 weeks. Shouldn't be a major issue. The revenue from the World Cup will be incentive enough to ensure Governments (both State and Fed) ensure there is minimal issues. I'm sure the NRL will go cap in hand for some sort of compensation, but there is more than enough time to sort out a relatively minor issue.
