A-League Season 2014/15 Draw Released

Two home games in three days?! I only just realised this. They are taking the piss.

I don't think they didn't care.

I think Ante is on the money, they probably didnt even consider it a possibility. Very disappointing.

- Putting the Melbourne Derby on the same night as the first leg they shot themselves in the foot re ratings and just general buzz around the fixture both in the lead up and following it.

- Giving us Wellington followed by Perth following the second leg. Even if the second leg was at home, those two fixtures in consecutive rounds are outrageous.

Agreed. Ridiculous on both counts. Surely you schedule for all possibilities, remote or otherwise?

Exactly!

I can't believe there is more outrage around people not receiving their membership packs (some stickers and a hat) than this absolute mess of a schedule.

Might as well play both games back to back before muscle soreness sets in, make changes to the lineup as necessary at full time

*ACL home/away fixtures: my educated guess based on another guess of us being seeded 2nd in our group, or if we are seeded 1st then as another educated guess it would be the opposite for each MD. the ACL 2015 draw is on thurs 11 dec so we'll know more then.
#A-League catch-up games

-for 5 weeks in a row from 21 feb(round 18) to 28 mar(round 23) we have 2 games a week, so 11 games in 5 weeks
-for 7 out of 9 weeks from 21 feb(round 18) to 25 apr(round 27) we have 2 games a week, so 17 games in 9 weeks (one saving grace is there are only 4 interstate games of the 12 a-league games during this period)

Bloody ESFC get the first derby right before our ACL final and the last derby between two ACL midweek group matches. Lucky bastards.

Wouldn't have it any other way, yes can see GA complaining about a congested schedule or having to travel too much, there will be something!

GA complained about playing on a Saturday night at home and then playing 3 days later at home again. That sure sounds like hard work!

Imagine playing in the grand final and then playing in another country 48 hours later in the first leg of a knockout round.

Oh wait...

whether you agree with it or not the following is one reason...if you want a big $ tv deal then these are some of the things the ffa has to agree to

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/blog/2014/11/10/league-presented-window-opportunity

Half of the A-League's aggregate attendance and television audience comes in the first 10 weeks of the season between October and mid-December and FFA understandably won't halt the competition in that period. The clubs, fans and broadcasters would not want that.

The front-end loading of the season with big fixtures in the 'clean air' between the Australian football and rugby league and cricket seasons is working brilliantly. Since Season 7, when the league first kicked off in October, crowds have gone from an 8400 average in Season 6 to an average of 13,250 in Season 9. Television ratings (pay TV only) went from 44,000 to 84,000. Membership has gone from 51,000 to 96,000.

Any particular reason why that game is at 20 to 10pm?
