I get this feeling of WSW playing Cruz Azul as a similar feeling to the Socceroos playing Chile in the World Cup? there's too much focus on Real Madrid, like when the focus was all about playing the Dutch and Spain in our Group, Chile was just like yeh whatever we'll get a result.... we lost.

Don't think many people thought like this tbh, in fact a lot of people were saying Chile would be our hardest test. Definitely harder than Holland.

Just had a quick look through the cruz azul players wiki , hundreds of international caps between them .

Yes, but do they have a Topor? And don't forget, we have a Hulk...

Finally getting excited about tomorrow mornings game. I was mostly sad for the boys this week - none of the drama could have been good for their heads, but seeing some of the interviews with the players and Popa over the last couple of days has helped get focus back on this awesome match. I'm so excited for them.

Tomorrow mornings prep; walk up the road to grab an early coffee, wearing my jersey of course. then getting comfy on the couch to cheer on the lads. I'm feelin' positive about this one. COYW!!  :xbop:

ahhh, **** it, I'm having another lol  :drinks:

It seems the better scenario for WSW is to draw and go to penalty kicks:

2 of the 3 draws have been won in PK by Asian teams.

We've never been in a penalty shoot-out before.

If we do, then I would back us heavily to win it, Covic is a beast at saving penalties

If we win tomorrow, are we going to bother with a 'Who are Real Madrid' thread??

Haha!! For some reason, something tells me nobody needs an introduction to Real Madrid

Although they shouldn't be treated any different.

If we do win, hopefully we get some Real fans on here.  I'm sure that they will have a few going around

I'm more talking about fans that live in spain.  I'd doubt that Barcelona fans really care what Real do in this tournament,

But if we play them, I bet that your want for the team to win will be much more than the rest of us!

In the weeks leading up to the first group stages of the ACL, I didn't think that we had a chance of getting through
In the days before our first game against Ulsan Hyundai, my confidence and belief grew in the team.

There was a 1st minute goal to Santa, there was smokegate, a Bridge goal in China, Haliti's against Kawasaki, a loss in Japan, a chance at redemption in korea that followed a 2-0 win, and a demolition of Guizhou at Parra

After we were down 3-1 to Sanfreece Hiroshima, We all thought that it was gone, we had some fun in ACL.  Some great midweek football at Pirtek but the journey as all but over.
Cole gave us hope, Then in the 85th minute Santalab scored a goal that I will never forget and put us through to the quarter finals and then from there was a small thought in all of our heads, 'we've got a pretty good team here'.

a 1-0 win and 2 send-offs to Guangzhou players had us all in a frenzy, we felt like the kings of the world to have the reigning champions on the back foot however we still had 90 minutes to play through. It would take something special to get through with nothing less than a 2-1 loss playing away to Guangzhou.
Covic stepped up, saved a penalty, Juric showed some nerves of steel to put his penalty away, and then we held on for dear life to finish on top.
I can't speak for others, some people may have had this weird fantasy of us making the final from the start, but that was when I honestly thought,
'holy crap, we can do the unthinkable here, were in the final 4'

it was a shaky 0-0 in Korea that set us up with a date with destiny at our beloved home.
Bang, Poljak scored a screamer from outside the penalty area and Cole secured the deal.

The Final! the Asian Football Confederation Champions League final! Nobody in their wildest dreams thought that we had a realistic chance in hell of making it this far, but we deserved to be here.

We were a $2.55 million salary capped squad up against 18% of the worlds oil trade, we were called a small club, we had no chance in hell, we came up against the team that had the divine right to win whatever that they wanted.
We defended our hearts out, rode our luck, and came up against an Al-Hilal that surrended under the pressure.
As Zelic would say "A moment of individual brilliance' and Slater would say 'fill yer boots son'
The almighty Juric stepped up to the plate, and took his opportunity to score the biggest goal in the clubs history for years to come off a Golec cross.

And he scored, an eruption ensured, pure ecstasy. for a split moment in time we were the kings of Asia.

But the mountain was yet to climbed, we weren't even halfway up yet.
we had 116 minutes of football to endure, to defend, to ride our luck, to believe, to hope, to think the thought that 'we could be the champions of asia'.
claims for penalties we're waived away, clear chances on goal were missed, glorious and spectacular saves were made.
And somehow, we did it.

We feared no one, and had conquered all.
Us!, the little club that was born out of the shambles that was Clive Palmer and the Gold Coast, a government grant, open forums to the fans, and one cold winter's night at Cook Park with 6 contracted players.
We had won the Asian Champions League.

This is western sydney wanderers, this is us, this is history. The sea's will get rough at times and all we will want to do is forget about the sport and go back to out day to day lives, but come gameday we will return.
Win or lose we will always follow you, let it rain, let it pour we will sing forever more, we will always love you and never betray you come on you wanderers.
And there are many other quotes from our songs that still can't express the feelings that we have for this club.

So whatever happens tomorrow morning will happen. What ever will be will be.
Pay disputes between the players and the club, disputes between unfair bans from the FFA and the fans.
Whatever turmoil that we may face,

We will always sign for the wanderers.

For there is the same little thought that we had at the start of our ACL campaign, 'we could be the champions of Asia'
We can still also be 'champions of the world'
