General W-League Discussion 2015/16

Recommended Posts

Hope to see lots of the familiar girls in the side again, in particular the ones who've grown up in Western Sydney.

Hope we manage to get a few more experienced & leadership players - I feel we were lacking that last season.

We need to make sure Linda O'Neill stays, if you saw her at the last derby she absolutely threw herself into it, nearly broke bones for our colours.

More of that next season, to have a national team with no current WSW players is unacceptable.

This is good news, and I like the idea of drafting to equalise the teams for the w-league.

would only really work if it was a professional league,

how are you going to convince a 20 year old to move from sydney to perth becaue they were drafted by perth and you're not going to pay them full time wages???

Maybe this will be a catalyst for professionalism in the coming years... Maybe? Highly unlikely.

Needs a sustainable TV deal in order to be professional.

Some of these girls work jobs outside of football to make ends meet, unless there new club finds them that second job, convincing them will be hard

ffa looking into having their w league matches played before the a league, 150k salary cap on the whole team is a bit of a laugh, even the refs are goin professional now, sure the women demand a bit of more respect and let those who have put the effort to be amongst the top of their country receive a full time income out of their commitment

I'd rather nyl before HAL. W League needs to be independent in order to get a proper TV deal. No channel is going to show a W League & HAL double header 5 times a weekend

Hard to see how this world cup hasn't been anything but a big win for the Matilda's, they come back home with respect, recognition, a pay rise at the national level & the future of the W League looking better everyday.

The smurf men's team play in Gosford the night before, so this might be a busy day for the friendly members of Parramatta's police force.

How long before though, it we're talking 3-4 hours before then that mightn't be the answer they're looking for.

If they just sold full strength beer at the damn ground all the world's problems would be solved.

Against Sober Football etc etc

W-League draw has never been a full fixture (ie: every team playing each other twice). Every team plays 12 games and it's a bit of luck of who you draw twice/once and so on.

Both the ABC and Foxtel will broadcast 1 WLeague game on Sunday afternoons.

ABC can afford it now since Foxtel will use its equipment to broadcast the matches
