Bluesfest @ Byron

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago we had a discussion about Bluesfest on the music thread ... tho given they are about to announce their first lot of artists I would start a thread in previous years they have about 5 or 6 announcements ..

I have linked below the festival link as they are about to make their first announcement .... well worth the effort to get their..

I have been to 5 of the last 8 and normally camp in the grounds along side the stages.

Normally I arrive late Wednesday and leave Tuesday morning. But you can also get day tickets and 3 day tickets..

Tis always over Easter and remember your gum boots as it often rains...

6 stages including and some great music with a audience very switched on to music and not much crowd trouble.

Can hardly wait if you have never been its worth the effort and just look at the previous years ... 2011 was the best IMO ..

The links..

Playing the blues isn't about making yourself feel better,

Melissa Etheridge is coming to Bluesfest. She is a legend - an inspiration to so many - a simply brilliant live performer - just watch the cheers when she walks on the Bluesfest stage. She has won two Grammy awards and received 17 nominations - She has won an Academy Award - for Best Original Song for the Documentary - An Inconvenient Truth. Melissa Etheridge's set at Bluesfest will be remembered as one of the great performances. Melissa Etheridge is a leader - she is a great musician, a great campaigner for human rights, an environmentalist, a cancer survivor, it is simply an honour to present her at Bluesfest and on her Australian tour."

The head line act on December 8, Kendrick Lamar, swept the field with 11 Grammy nominations, including ALL the major ones.

There is only one artist who has EVER received more in it's history.

That is in 1984. Michael Jackson off the previous year's album release. Thriller

For which Michael received 12 nominations
