Police/Security Issues & Restrictions

Recommended Posts

The video of the 'corporate box morons' is now up on YouTube.

This isn't something to be swept under the rug it's crystal clear them throwing objects, especially the guy in the black tshirt who needs a multi year ban.

I genuinely feel sorry for those family fans who got smashed with pepper spray, the police were over the top indiscriminately spraying any wsw fan.

They continue to be told by FFA, the media, and the authorities that they are dealing with soocer hooligans. They react accordingly.

Mate and I were talking as we walked back to central alongside thousands of other fans of both sides without any issue - that this could never happen in the UK. 40 000 fans for a derby and we had what 1 minor scrap with mandatory police over reaction and one massive knob head in a corporate box and that's it. Its comical how big the gap is between the media/public perception and the reality.

I wonder if the nsw police bloke from pre match will do a follow up article about the family friendly nature of bloke's getting their cocks out in front of little kids at the cricket. Its hard to imagine something LESS family friendly that could happen at a sporting event.

The Police Report for the event

Sunday, 15 January 2017 09:58:51 AM

Police are pleased with the behaviour of the majority of the estimated-80,000 fans who attended the Sydney derbies held at Moore Park overnight.

Three people were charged, and 12 were ejected when more than 200 officers were deployed to the Sydney Cricket Ground for the Sydney Sixers versus Sydney Thunder, and to Allianz Stadium for the Sydney FC versus Western Sydney Wanderers games.

General duties officers from local area commands across Sydney were assisted by specialist units including Police Transport Command, Public Order & Riot Squad, Operations Support Group, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Licensing Police, Mounted Unit, Dog Unit, and PolAir.

Police were pleased with the overwhelming majority of both cricket and soccer fans who attended the events; however, they were disappointed with several patrons who – despite all the warnings issued in the lead-up to the games – broke the law.

Two men were restrained by security after they ran naked onto the SCG before being arrested by police.

A 27-year-old man from Wamberal and a 23-year-old man from Pitt Town have been issued with court attendance notices for entering the playing field without authorisation. They are due to appear in Waverley Local Court on the Wednesday 1 March 2017.

Further charges may be laid at court.

Meanwhile, a number of people were ejected from Allianz Stadium for intoxication, not obey directions and other offences. Six people were ejected while another five were issued infringements, with one man being served with an infringement notice for burning a flag.

NSW Police Corporate Spokesperson for Sporting Events and Venues, Acting Assistant Commissioner Peter Thurtell, thanked the majority of fans for keeping the night a family-friendly and fun event.

“There were an estimated-80,000 fans who attended the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium for the Sydney derbies,†Acting Assistant Commissioner Thurtell said.

“Despite several arrests, the vast majority of people were well-behaved and we are pleased that the community could enjoy the night in a safe and friendly environment.

“I am, however, extremely disappointed in the behaviour of the two men who disrupted the cricket match.

“The Big Bash is a family-friendly event, many people attended with their children and those actions impacted their night, not to mention disrupting a great game of cricket.

“While some people find this behaviour entertaining, it is unacceptable at sporting events, especially those aimed at attracting families.

“A warning for anyone else who may consider their actions to be comical: if you unlawfully enter the field of play you face an automatic ban and $5500 in fines,†Acting Assistant Commissioner Thurtell said.

Interesting police report. Very interesting that NSW police officially doesn't pepper spray anyone, no men, women, or children, and that no batons were used after the game.

I must have imagined two dozen riot police and four mounted police officers rushing to the "bridge to nowhere" to restore order as they understand it.

Didn't the Cove burn Vedran's jersey, not a flag?

Nah it was the gargamel two stick.

3 point deduction and $50k fine

Still won't catch us ;)

So....

No charges laid against the corporate box.

Offenders have been identified & dealt with.

Curious as to why it didn't rate a mention in the Fuzz report

Similar stuff happened to us at parramatta, several of families got sprayed last year didn't get a mention

Love the moral underpinning of the T20 hit and giggle fest

“The Big Bash is a family-friendly event, many people attended with their children and those actions impacted their night, not to mention disrupting a great game of cricket.

Here's an idea Chief Superintendent Cockbreath...'Both the cricket and football matches played in the Moore Park area were attended by thousands of people, families included, and thankfully there were minimal public order issues at both events. We are disturbed with the anti-social behaviour of those at the cricket who decided to expose themselves in a lewd and disgusting manner, as well as those in corporate boxes at the football who thought it acceptable to throw projectiles at people below their position in the stands. We will be investigating and charging anyone identified in either act of anti-social behaviour'.

See? Treat equally, prosecute equally. It's not fooking hard

23 year old man from Pitt Town - doesn't goat live round there and was absent from the derby?

:)

Why do they make such a big song and dance about the BBL being family friendly does this suggest the a league isn't? Then again if family friendly can be defined as wearing fast food containers on your head and cheering every shot regardless of if it was your team then, they are welcome to the family friendly tag

Don't have to explain your actions if no one knows it happened.

They have free reign to use pepper spray indiscriminately it seems and not be held accountable for it.

Its a joke and just shows, yet again, that they still don't understand how to deal with large crowds form opposing teams.

They allow all supporters to leave the stadium at once and converge on the same area outside the stadium.

They let incidents happen so they can justify their existence/numbers

Colours mixing in the drag between SCG and Allianz main entrace continous to be problematic.

After S3 R2 we walked past a few tuff Smurfs who suggested something involving f words and wanderers. Next moment a few even tuffer wsw guys jumped them. The festivities were rudly broken up by police. Shortly after I had a juvenile pimple face shoving his Smurf scarf in my face, and a bit of spit that came out of his loud mouth.

On saturday, in the same area, a Smurf head declared that all wsw mothers are f'g c...s. He was lucky that he didn't say it to someone who was equally drunk and willing to physically object.

NSW have no idea about crowd control. Keep those in away bays waiting 10-15 mins post match, and much of the problem will be avoided.

It is interesting, you do get the odd "**** off east sydney" or "**** off westie scum" on the way back to central but never seen it end up in a brawl or massive fight. Few times I have seen it get a bit over the top but when you consider that the majority of 40,000 manage to disperse with little issue it is a pretty good effort. I've never quite had an issue getting back to central but then again there are some who wouldn't be afraid to give it back & then some.

Funnily enough, went over that bridge with fairy probably 10 minutes before it happened with no drama.

The only issue with holding only one set of active fans back for 15 minutes, is that both sets of active fans stay back to congratulate the players & hence why there might be an issue.

Actually I'm comfortable that it didn't get a mention or the press might have gone to town on it. Also, most of the footage was taken 'mid battle' which might give the impression to some that we were just as guilty. I suspect that our friend in the black shirt may not actually be a Sydney FC fan but was invited along by his smurf mates, had too much sauce and was probably told all afternoon that we were scum. I trust that if he wasn't charged then he was significantly dealt with and his name forwarded to the FFA.

I was right next to it cause we were leaving. The corporate guy got the s*** because in the "We unite us one chant" some people threw beer up which all good fun but one landed on his arm (he kept pointing at it). When everyone was leaving Bastard started throwing half empty water bottles at everyone so naturally all things went to hell after that.

Thing is this always happens why are they sitting there? and seriously couldn't that guy just suck it up? when a Mexican wave goes round in any sport people throw beer up anyway and no one cares

I appreciate that his mate got caught during a chant but there were a group of idiots who were doing it throughout the match.

I'm not referring to the guy in the video. One scum bag kept targeting a row of ladies in front of us who kept on reacting every time he threw stuff. The more reaction, the more they did it. The guys looked like they came from the U.K. & were in white shirts.

I really hope they all got caught and not just the dicks at the end. Very lucky that it didn't get the attention I thought it would have, lucky it didn't get caught during the post game coverage in the studio!
