3/10 - lacks beardliness.

probably will forever being baby-faced and a ranga.

still tackles like a bearded man.

Tackled like a hipster you mean.

He smashed an Adelaide player first, before it was cool.

he did a number on Cirio, out for 6-8 weeks.

Looks like a grudge match against Adelaide next time out.

That will be in Round 22 @Spotless in March 2017

******* A-league scheduling. Only 9 teams to play and we don't play them again for 20 weeks. Within that time, we'll play Mariners three times.

That's terrible!  :(  :(

He did play well.... but there was no need for that tackle!

I think he will be a really good asset to this team. his first debut he played really well and under popa he will learn so much more.

Welcome emmabeth!

You're right. It was a horrible tackle that should have been punished more harshly. He could have hurt Dimas leaving his leg in like that. It's no surprise he managed to injure himself in the process.

Cirio suffered medial ligament damage to his right knee after a heavy challenge from Western Sydney Wanderers defender Jack Clisby in the Reds’ 2-1 loss on Friday night.

The incident occurred in the opening minute and while Cirio tried valiantly to play, he was soon replaced.

Scans over the weekend confirmed the worst for Cirio, who is set to miss up to 10 weeks, the Reds confirmed in a club statement  :(

It comes just a few weeks after he returned from a fractured fibula sustained in pre-season.   :(

PS If I'm missing something....which is quite likely, fill me in!   :)  :)

I like the fact we have a player who causes this kind of controversy and discussion lol Makes me think Clisby has a bit more about him than I thought he would. Hope he keeps the intensity up and gets stuck in all season.

oh man I can see it now.... pouring with rain, a pitch like a plowed field and Clisby and Santa kicking the **** out of and sliding in on anything that moves..... would be like the good ol days at the Boro  :xbop: Football in its pure Northern form lol

There is absolutely no doubt that his tackle on dimas aggravated what may have been a knock from clisby tackle. Having done a grade 2 medial in contact there is no ******* way he was hurt in full.from clisby and played on with the injury. #justicefordimas

Given how the knee joint works, it's likely that the tackle from Clisby did -some- damage. This would have caused swelling in the joint, which makes the joint unstable. This would have left the knee ripe for the wrecking when he left his leg in on Dimas. Either event on its own would be 2-3 weeks at most. Combined, ouch.

From personal experience, if you're going to play on when you feel your knee swelling up, don't do a Gascoigne or you will regret it.

Exhibit 'A' your honour

This is where Cirio got hurt. He over extended his knee trying to smash Dimas. #ADLvWSW.

Clisby's tackle was nothing more than brake failure. There was no intent to hurt Cirio, rather just to create a collision & let him know he was there.

Clisby doesn't make that tackle and Adelaide spank us 4 nil. Could have happened. Clisby made a statement you're in for a game tonight and we won.

Clisby > over all the Adelaide people crying

Move on.

i agree

if he was not to make the tackle and also make a statement then he would just be seen as the newbie.

now that he has made a statement and played quite well people will talk.

I take back my statement yeh he might do a good job on his first game but he is no Scott jamieson he doesn't have the stamina or footwork.

His tackle was uncalled for and he just wanted to make a name for himself to get an ego boost.

That's not what Wanderers are about, no wonder he moved from Melbourne because he wasn't going to get played with them this year....

whatever you say emma

Hard tackles aren't what wanderer's are about?

Polenz, Poljak, La Rocca, NTS and others have made some incredibly memorable hard tackles. It's a defensive statement. And with the wanderers under Popovic (not one to shy away from a hard tackle himself) being built from the defence forward, solid, hard tackles are what gets you the coach's attention. As a defender you have to go out there and make an impact - and unlike a forward - it's often literal.

Clisby's tackle put adelaide on the back foot, and was the defining defensive moment of the match.

Have to disagree with you here, it was a hard tackle & not one that was intended to injure or with any malice. Emma, keep in mind that football is a contact sport, you will get moments where you come off in a challenge second best. It was worthy of a yellow but nothing more

Ego boost? As has been noted above, the tackle was not intended to boost his ego. I'm not sure how you've connected the dots to come to your conclusion.

He moved from Melbourne vision not because he wasn't going to get a game there but because we sold Jamo late. We didn't have many options & im sure if we had more time he wouldn't be first choice but he was deemed unnecessary at Vision FC so we pounced. Yet to prove himself but he showed early signs last week that he could turn into a Neville v2.0

Oh & welcome to the forum :good:
