Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney FC 8/10/2016 7:50PM

I work with a 'part time' smurf. He's a decent bloke and he's been to all the Allianz derby games and only a handful more home games in recent seasons. He's not an FC member but extremely reluctant to buy a ticket where there is a strong possibility of being outnumbered by Wanderers supporters. I guess there are plenty more where he comes from !!

Lol what does he think we will do to him.

So the reason ESFC have not shifted more is because they are scared lol

******* pussies if true.

I get the impression that many of them equate an away game with the Wanderers as the equivalent of going to the likes of Millwall and West Ham !!

I'm not buying the 10,000 smurfs line. there's no way we have 50,000 fans (assuming a 60 thousand crowd) prepared to go to homebush...is there

Never underestimate the Sydney 'event' crowd.

I'm sure we will see the following:

Rabbitohs Shirt

State of Origin Shirt

Liverpool Shirt

Wallabies Shirt

Maybe a Swans shirt...but no Manuka Midgets lol

Thing is though, for the season 1 GF at Allianz what percentage of that 45,000 sell out was decked in red and black? Apart from a small smattering of yellow down one end and a few very small pockets of yellow down one side it was all WSW. I was down near the CCM end for that game and even the away end had red and black in it.

We have some big game WSW event goers that we need to convert to mainstream attenders if that GF was anything to go by. I can still picture that scene in my head now, looking over to one main stand and seeing the whole of the stand, top tier and bottom red and back and that flowing right around the ground almost.

I personally think there will be a few more Smurfs there than we expect. We are probably talking them down a little too much. There will also be event goers and first timers of course 'checking out the atmosphere'. But one thing I am noticing is that Wanderers support is starting to resonate across all of Sydney. Not just Western Sydney. So I think you will see people come from all sides of ANZ, and it will mostly be red and black.

With Delije reporting Pax of 41,088 I think it is fair to call the A-League all-time record of 55,436 (MV v AU GF of 2007) broken! :xbop:

i.e. 41,088 + approx 15,000 WSW Seated Members = 56,000+

Next stop is a Pax of 45,000 so we can beat the all-time NRL regular season record of 59,708 (Souths v Easts at ANZ 2013).

If Taurus' 40,752 was at 10am and Delije's 41,088 at 11.30, then that is 336 in 1.5hrs which is 224 an hour. At that rate, we will reach 59,709 in 16.16hrs after 11.30am = 11.30am today + 16hrs 9min and 54.64sec...

= 3.39am and 54.64sec tomorrow morning! Which is under an hour before the WCQ in Saudi Arabia kicks off! Now none of you has an excuse to sleep in! :ninja:

Can you do my taxes please

I still think we would have more than 15000 seated members out of the 18000. Apart from to get a spot on waiting list (which is no longer needed) why would you buy a supporter membership? No way we have sold 3000 out of Towner / supporter memberships

Because we could not afford seated membership this season, we let our seated membership go  :(

We now just have supporter membership x3 and will pick games I guess.

WSW = a team for all of Sydney. HAL advertisement with Santa in York Street, and with Brosque two streets down in Kent.

The Smufs had 30odd k when ADP played for them first time. You'd expect 15-20k of them will be making the journey to the heart of Sydney. I sincerely hope it will be the case.

There will be more than 10k in light blue for sure. Pignata was only referring to The Cove (hardcore, dyed in the blood, fanatical, loyal, cut me and I bleed light blue) area I believe. There will be Smurfs all over the stadium.

Sorry, I didn't really see it from that side.

Realistically I think it will be a 33.33333/33.33333/33.33333 split - wsw, sydney and randoms who just want to be there

The fact that we will 18k members in the 60k+ crowd already almost gives us that 33.33% on its own. I think it will be more like randoms 20%, SFC 30% and WSW support 50%. Remember a lot of people will be in red or blue just to support a team. Doesn't mean they are necessarily committed supporters.

Just bought an extra ticket, POX is 41,459

LOL did you just buy a ticket to inform of the latest pax

Of course. What's $36.50 amongst friends.

We should crowd-fund a ticket around 2pm on Saturday just for the POX of it... ;)

Adam Peacock just reported on the Reddit A-League AMA that ESFC has only bought 650 tickets of a 1600 ticket active section allocation

If that's true then that is dismal.

Saturday night will very graphically show how much bigger our support is.

This is no doubt true, but I would also argue there are plenty of fans who simply can't access our games due to high membership numbers and members not on selling their seats when they can't attend (not that the process was easy to being with).

How many games have sold out in the last two to three seasons at Parra with huge gaps everywhere? There are plenty of people who would gladly take the empty spots if they could

I've got Smurf mates, but we never socialise at derbies. Not only is it difficult with the sheer number of people, but we're often too emotional/fired up to have civil conversations.

We're great mates every day, except derby day, where the only communication is banter.
