Bit scary here with the big gusts of wind.

Anyone know if/where you can find out if the dams are getting this?

ABC news weather report Thursday or Friday night mentioned that most of the forecast rain would be in the Warragamba catchment area.

I have a little splash pool I use to cool my dogs down in the heat.

It has been sitting outside where I left it last over the weekend and I've been absolutely intrigued by the rising water in it.

It went from a quarter full on Friday evening to half full last night and now after today I'd say it's good two thirds to three quarters full. That's a whole lotta water! I wonder if it will fill up all the way overnight. The rain is still bucketing down here as we speak.

I'm going to leave the water and use it for my lemon tree and frangipani plants.

We are going to be approaching more rain in this thing alone than we had all of last year before it's done up here.

I'm at one of the highest points basically we just got lashed for 2:days straight. Leaks sideways, no joke. Tree down today across the lane that gives us access to the house. Power out all day only just came on, out yesterday top for quite a while.

It's died down a little now but still going. Train line down because of landslides.

Since August we've had snow, the garden almost died from drought, fires, dust, now this. It's insane.

109ml from 9am Saturday to 9am Sunday

85ml from 9am today! Nuts but how good!!

edit: 161ml from 9am today to 7:30pm! :shok:

There has been places in the Blue Mountains that have received over 500 mm's over the past 3 days.

Most of this will flow into the catchment, as well as replenishing the Blue Mountains dams.

As damaging as this event has been, it's been a godsend.

It's also finally put the fires out.

We didn't have real dramas at all.

3 rivulets coursing thru our slightly sloped back garden weren't an issue.

Bit of a lake developing on pavers.

But at one point, to minimise what was pouring over the top of  a choked downpipe, I was collecting the overflow in a bucket, and pouring it down the laundry sink.

It felt terrible.

For months, water has been precious.

Yesterday, too much... and some was being chucked down the sink.

Made me think we should be harvesting and storing more of our water...all over the country, rather than having it run down drains in events like yesterday's.

:unknw:

Yesterday, crossed Nepean River at about 8.00am with water lapping the base of the bridge and crossed back so did not go to work. Whole family had to stay at home. Bridge was closed later in the morning. The BOM has removed the river height near the bridge for some reason. Now waiting for the water level to drop from over 8m to 5m to allow a council engineer inspect and give the all clear

Some pretty crazy amounts of water along Luddeham Rd. This was taken at the end of the road, facing towards Mamre Rd. Not sure why this guy decided to drive through (he was later rescued apparently, not sure about his car though). The land and fields behind the houses as you go back along Luddenham Rd were a new river.

This was an aerial view of the bridge / reserve @Paul01 mentioned (taken from FaceBook). The water was up to the underside of the bridge. It went from about 3.5 metres on Saturday afternoon to 8 metres on Sunday.

Anyone noticed our winter has been that cold yet? Or is it yet to come?

Predicting higher than normal rainfall this winter, again it’s going to be late to hit!

Rain predicted next week.

Fog engulfed the western Sydney airport site again today
